It'll be year 3 for Adams, and I said this for year 3 of Botterill as well - you gotta hit 90 points in the 3rd year. I understand his patience and methodical building philosophy but 80 points is purgatory.
You pick 7th for eternity and live there - Hank Balling
They're not even on pace for 70 points this year.
Maybe (most likely) they would have hit 80ish had they not lost all those man-games to injury? So maybe 90 is doable. I'm just trying to temper my expectations. |

I can't do that anymore.
This will be the 3rd year of rebuild 3.0 with the same group running the show. Either something has to change at the ownership level, they have to hit 90 points, or I'm out on this gong show. |

Nope. It’s getting so ridiculous
It’s really not that hard to be a competent NHL team. It really isn’t. |

The Eastern Conference is getting old, too. There's no reason (other than the 3 E's) not to really try next year |

Gerbe has been pretty adamant…
Coming in 2022-2023…
tank 4: the tank to keep tanking
Let’s hope that plan changes, I don’t care how that plan changes; sale of the team to a torts group, Adam’s president, Kelly p for president, don’t care… that just can’t blatantly tank AGAIN!
Find a rd, sign a competent goalie, sign the Johnson and the Levi. Bring some of the kids up and let the horses run… let’s see where the chips fall at the end of 82… |

If samuelsson turns into “McKee” that’s a win. Just make sure he washes his equipment.

Depending on where they draft this year, I'd be real fine with picking Jiricek as RhD for top pairing.
Big physical Dman to pair up top with Power. Johnson and maybe Joker could work on 2nd pair, or Samuelson and Joker on 3rd pair would be awesome.
Point is, if Dahlin is the ticket to get a bonfide 1C, I'd would certainly consider moving him if they drafted a likely stud on D again. I'd also be good if they retained Dahlin and also selected Jiricek too. That would give them an abso, yet Jaugernaught on the back end with some really solid talent at F as well. |

To tie it back to the '06 Sabres and game 1 of the ECQF, Dahlin looks like Campbell who can carry the puck in on the PP and generate the type of opportunities that Jay McKee (Jokiharju) capitalized on in game one.
Personal opinion and I could be very wrong - I don't see Dahlin as a top-pairing defender long term. He looks like a middle pairing guy and if you can sell high on potential, it's worth exploring. Or you keep him if you can get him on a good contract. Campbell was a hell of a d man - just not really first pairing material.
Have to do better than Ennis as a return, of course |

Could not disagree more: Campbell, at his peak, was absolutely a 1st pair defenseman. |

Gonna be totally and completely honest- a 78-84 point season might be a TKO for me - Hank Balling
A pathetic statement about the Sabres: It feels like they finished last when they actually attempted to ice a playoff team as much as they did when they outright tanked. |

Fair enough. I didn't follow him closely with San Jose, Chicago or Florida.
Chicago had a stacked d during that time so he was able to blend in and not be "the guy" |
