Replace Marchand's victim from Jarry to Dumoulin and it is maybe a 1 to 3 game suspension. This kind of stuff happens all the time after the whistle and the refs break it up and send the teams back to their benches. The fact that it was a goalie as a target and repeat offender Marchand is what has everyone outraged.

Brad is a dirty player but a star player so we will see if this plays into a suspension or the amount of games he gets. If this was a player like Chris Simon He would get 10 games at least so it will be interesting to see what the outcome is .

While I can imagine it would be frustrating to double up a team in shots and come on the losing end it does happen. Brad Marchand punching and sticking Jarry for making a save would make as much sense a Penguins player attacking David Pastrnak for scoring a goal. There is no place in hockey for actions like this and the Department of Player "Safety" is a joke and will surely give the Rat, a slap on the wrist.

I would love an example of the last time a player punched a goalie straight in his head after the the whistle was blown. Then after the ref saved him from the other team, skates by the goalie, with the ref still protecting him, and hits the goalie in the mask with his stick.

Seeing that it happens all the time, it should be easy to find an example.

My biggest issue here is the complete lack of a reaction by the Pens. Yes - the rat part 2 - should be suspended, but that Pens team is an absolute disgrace.

I did notice Rust attempt to toss an elbow at someone’s head then cross check a guy from behind, but when he had the chance to jump or at least challenge the rat he did nothing. I’d have a serious problem wit their lack of a response if I coached that team.

He should get 15 games. That punch was a blindside hit to the head. The ref needs to do a better job of separating the players. That high stick was a borderline spear to the neck.

Marchand is like Evander Kane...they both think that they can do whatever they want whenever they want and not have to suffer any consequences. Neither has ever expressed any contrition for their transgressions....the difference is that Marchand is liked by his teammates..
I think that a 12-15 game suspension is appropriate here. A punch to the head has proven fatal in many circumstances yearly that occur outside of hockey rinks and we are seeing the results of concussions later in life for athletes that have sustained repeated head contact. I'd give him 5 games for thepunch, 2 games for the stick to the mask and then double it because he is more than a repeat offender; he is like a career criminal in some respects ...
