Ok, calm it down. Steve Yzerman is one of the best players to play the game. Steven Stamkos is one of the best players to play the game. Brad is not in their class now nor ever will be! He deserves 10 games at a minimum, he is a dirty thug hockey player and I wish someone would just slam their stick down his stinking throat!

This, one of the best players in the league today...sure, one of the best to ever play the game...gimme a break!

That's the point, though: someone needs to be made an example of so the league doesn't hand out ad hoc discipline. A stick to the head is an absolute no-no. Harsh for 63 considering the force of his jab and that Jarry was wearing a mask? Maybe. But using a stick to retaliate needs to never ever happen again and, if it does, the offender needs to get his nuts in a sling for it.

It's absolutely a no-no, I'm not defending it, but it's not the same thing as what McSorely did. One was grossly aggravated and a clear intent to inflict serious injury.

Suspend Marchand forever and then punch Jack Edwards in the taint when he opens his mouth.

Not even about the suspension, just every single time he speaks

or if he was Raffi Torres he would be getting 41 games.. But hey talent= less time for the crime.
- hehateme

Difference is Marchand uses gutless actions. Slew foots cuz he is a turd, cheap shots cuz he is a punk & Jack Edwards idolizes him. Add it up you get Boston in a nutshell.

Ehhh... no problem by me. I'd like to know why a 5 on 5 line brawl didn't happen, but I see nothing other than a game or 2 needed. Deal with him on the ice by punching him in the face.

Ehhhh that's not quite the same thing. Marchand deserves a lengthy suspension, but he did not wind up and two-hand baseball-swing his stick into someone's skull
- eichiefs9

Too bad it was Ethan Horton & not the lil puke. Rome would take his 5 game PO suspension & be revered forever.

I understand you aren't defending it. You are level headed and post common sense stuff on this site. But I'm not saying it is the same as what Marty McSorley, either.

What I'm saying is: zero tolerance for using a stick as anything other than on the puck or going for a puck during game play.

I got news for you, NHLers use theirs sticks to hack each other multiple times every game. I think I watched Dave Andreychuck and Thomas Vanek each get crosschecked about 1,000 times standing in front of a goalie.

Good point. Let me confine it to using the stick to an opponent's head. Coaches and teammates are fair play.

I didnt see the game just the replay where Marchand punched and hit him with his stick. Did the goalie do anything to him or is it Marchand being Marchand

Why should the team have an out? This is Marchand's 4th contract with the Bruins. They knew exactly what he was capable of doing when they signed him. They should have no out. The suspensions for repeat offenders need to be more severe. Players getting suspended for an 8th time, the numbers of games shouldn't be in the 5-10 range, you really need to start talking about a quarter of the season, no pay. If you want to hurt the team, his cap hit still counts. Currently players suspended with no pay, do not count against the cap. If the team can't fit replacement player under the cap, they play with a man less, until he returns.

I say throw the book at him. McSorley essentially was thrown out of the game for high sticking that POS Brashear. DOPS needs to look at it all, the puck incident, his interfering with Crosby trying to get a stick, the sucker punch ( no scrum with Jarry) and finally the high stick/spear to the throat. He is a loose cannon and despite his skills a black eye on the league. He should have been jumped, Letang tried but was restrained getting mugged by another Bruin. Based upon who was on the ice, Crosby, Rust, Guentzel and Letang, who would you want to get hurt? Let the League dole out punishment and next time let him answer the bell like the Bruins Thornton did to Orpik a few years ago. We can pick who to challenge at that time. Also, didn't need Boyle or anyone else leaving the bench to get suspended. I hope suspend him until next year. Maybe, like Matt Cooke he will get the message and change. I doubt it

Same old Marchand. 10 games nothin, sit him out the rest of the year, tell him to go play in the K, tell him to go kick rocks. He's a player safety issue every time he's on the ice. The NHLPA shouldn't be defending him, they should be trying to protect their members by removing him entirely.

LOL. Seeing that Sabres logo next to your comment reminds me so much of Lucic sitting on Ryan Miller for a game while his team did nothing about it. Good to see that things have changed in Buffalo

He resembles a little sewer rat and should be treated like one. He has always been a sneaky slimy little jerk. They should throw the book at him. He gets away with this kind of crap all the time. Time to nail that little pcrik to the cross
