I'm very confused by this. Like, I know Brind'amour is an ex player, but the dude was an assistant coach for 7 years before they gave him a head coach role.

I mean that guy worked is ass off to have the carreer he had despite the odds stacked agaisnt him, everybody respects him, I would be behind that choice

true, but I meant for Montreal in particular, Hughes and Gorton will probably be looking into their own candidates, maybe not at who was here before. not impossible, but I don't see it.

Well, if the candidate needs to speak French, you know Bouchard has to be in it, it's not like there are 50 potential coaches out there that can step up. He's also has one of the best track record out there, if you go with a new coach (since Hartley alreayd has a Cup), and he's a proven commodity (unlike St-Louis?!). Who knows, we'll see.

If St-Louis is chosen, I can't believe this is only interim for him to be Hughes eyes and ears in the locker room while Richardson is actually finishing the year as head coach before everyone gets fired in the summer and the real coach is chosen. Otherwise, wtf?! He has zero experience, this is like playing russian roulette with only one bullet removed instead of one bullet in...

I think he knows how to run a practice, make lines and run a powerplay.. Just give him an experienced assistant or associate coach.

Think the impact he could have working with Caufield

Bout damn time. Ducharme was a joke of a coach at the NHL level. I’d take Patrick in any capacity in the organization. The franchise desperately needs some sort of fire/lightning rod in a position that matters and Roy has that in spades. I hope he’s who they bring in.

As much as I don't want Roy to be coach, Roy would be a better option... unless this is a 3 months stop-gap thing...

To be honest I would be happy to see him appointed as an assistant coach. He could help Caufield a lot.

yup. hopefully he's less of a giant douche than Tremblay, but yeah it's baffling.

If Martin St-Louis is indeed hired as the next coach of the Montreal Canadiens, the big question is who is going to take over as assistant with the Mid Fairfield U13 team? If this happens, the Habs will have literally hired a peewee coach. A peewee coach.
