oh I didn't say it was fair. but it was necessary imo.

right. in a way I agree, although I'm surprised he didn't finish the season. sucks for him though, I know most think he was just incompetent but I don't think that was the case, even though I didn't agree with some of his decisions. good luck finding another job in the NHL (not for now at least).

I think the idea was to let him finish the season, win or lose (who cares at this point). but not the way they lost the past 2 weeks. 5-1, 6-1, 7-1... showing no pride, not defending your goalie.... that had to stop asap.

and perso, DD might be a good hockey head, he haven't done anything showing he'll ever be a good NHL coach. you cannot play Petry day in day out like that and keep the respect of the other guys. impossible.

ironically he was perhaps trying to keep the vets on his side, and not benching Petry was his way of doing that, since he surely has a few buddies on the team (although at some point you gotta think some in the dressing room were looking at Petry and thinking "wtf man" lol).

Martin St-Louis is black now? holy, it seems I've got some catching up to do.

if he wanted to keep the vets on his side, maybe starting the season with Caufield on the first line and Gallagher on the 3rd was NOT a good idea.

good point, but a guy like Caufield will not succeed either if you put him on the 3rd or 4th line. he needs some time in Laval now.

Lafreniere is on the 3rd line, why wouldn't it be good for Caufield?
the kid has a lot to learn, and yes he should do so in Laval. probably even next year.

Lafrenière can at least throw his weight around a bit on the 3rd line, a small goal scorer like Caufield needs to play with more skilled players imho to do his job.

This team is exhausting...

Just saying.

Deadline and draft are all I am looking forward to this year... Not sure how much I will actually watch games or follow the team that much.

Lecavalier, will accept a position with the Habs for sure. Assistant GM? I don’t think so. My guess is as a senior consultant/senior advisor to the GM.

I'm really curious to see how the team will come out tomorrow night against the caps. Petry will start playing like a Norris winner lol

senior here refers to his age, not his experience. the guy has been sitting home for the past decade lol

Lecavalier and Saint-Louis could probably both still play and be on our first line yes.
is Simon Gagné available? Stéphane Richer?

I think they will keep St-Louis as an assistant coach next season. The guy they want to hire now isn't available (I don't think any team would give permission to speak to their AHL coach in the middle of a season)

I have a feeling he was in discussions to join the Habs as part of the management grp, and that is where he will be next year

If the Habs come out and say that now, not a single person on that locker room will give a (frank) what he has to say, likely tune him out as they did DD, if they know he is a purely 100% temp coach.

Hains: Ducharme Out!

The writing was on the wall for Ducharme after last night’s abysmal game against the Devils and Josh Anderson’s post game comments.

- Karine Hains

I was blown away by the hire. Literally would never have guessed in a million years. I am grateful it isn't Roy though. While I have zero knowledge of St. Louis as a coach, I could see in the intern role now that the shock has warn off. He will be a good guy to inject character back into the room and help players like Caulfield find their stride. He has played with young emerging stars before and knows what's best for a player of his size; being similarly sized himself.

Im interested to see what he does. No one can accuse management of rehashing an old face.
