I have a feeling he was in discussions to join the Habs as part of the management grp, and that is where he will be next year

If the Habs come out and say that now, not a single person on that locker room will give a (frank) what he has to say, likely tune him out as they did DD, if they know he is a purely 100% temp coach.

Are they not calling him an interim coach?

Pat, line 2 for you. CEO of Microsoft wants you to run the company. he knows you have 0 experience but hears you're a good guy and once had success with a lemonade stand.
congrats!

I think pat’s experience would be that he’s in the computer programmer hall of fame, no?

I think I would at least have to be an ex-pro gamer for the analogy to work.

I sure did. completely surreal. the guy comes in (Hughes) saying it's a dream come true. it's like the NY Yankees or DAL Cowboys...
and then hires his buddy who has 0 experience to run the team.
don't get me wrong, I wish him all the best, hope he'll succeed, but come on. that is completely ridiculous lol

I think it'll be ridiculous once they keep St-Louis next year while there isn't any sort of improvement. like many were saying earlier it's possible he isn't their #1 choice and they have other plans for him.

oh they will don't worry. the new coach won't score goals or stop pucks.
they may lose 3-1 instead of 7-1 though.

I don't buy that. anyway, he doesn't have experience in anything management related. ass gm, scouting, coaching... nothing.

great player though, even better leader. offense, skills... all qualities we heard Hughes talk about when describing the team he wants to see. they want him as a coach imo.

you were saying he lacks experience, but I'm sure he could help out with player development, if he doesn't stay as coach.

the only thing I expect is that he won't be afraid to cut his bench, sit players who don't deserve their TOI.

the only good analysis I heard earlier is that no real coach would accept that job for 30 games. so who else did they have to replace DD? Richardson?

so try MSL, if he likes it and if you think he does a good job, you give him the job for next year.
but that is still the Montreal Canadiens we're talking about. man that is depressing lol

it's also a possibility that the actual candidate(s) for the head-coaching job simply isn't available right now.
