christ what a horrible trade - 2Real
Those 1st’s amount to not much. Would’ve rather kept Curry but Harden for a guy who was never going to play another game here. Ya can’t really complain. Ben will go down as the biggest female dog of a pro athlete this city has ever seen. And that’s saying something.
Kyrie and Ben on the same team is going to be a circus. |

It's a pretty good trade for both sides actually.
The first rounders are a 2022 unprotected (late first rounder) and a protected 2027 first rounder.
Looks like Paul Milsap is also coming over in the deal.
Sixers hold on to Thybulle and Maxey. |

Just think if the Sixers got Harden for a punk, who doesn't play and can't make a free throw, imagine what the Flyers haul for Giroux will be. |

This year's one is going to be low. The other is 5 years later and protected.
Since Fyers are a joke and I am boycotting the winter olympics, finally something to be excited about re:sports! |

Hextall was right to bring in a nutritional specialist based on that photo. Chalk up another one in favor of St. Ronnie. |

No one is defending anything. Some people like myself just accept that this year is not going to get better and it is better for it not to. There is going to be some major changes but none will be done until the offseason. For now its just going through the motions and getting a good pick.
Fletcher already addressed the personnel changes. He stated no changes until the offseason because theres going to be a complete evaluation. Firing people now makes no sense. You arent going to find many people looking for a 3 month job.
Yeo is here for the remainder of the season. That is just how it has to be. In the offseason a new coach will be hired as well as the rest of the coaching staff. I can guarantee the Interim tag will not be removed from Yeo. We will have a new head coach and a staff chosen by said coach.
The only changes you will see are the exits of Giroux, Braun and Brassard. Maybe even Ristolainen, Jones and Yandle. Fletcher may have interest in bringing back Ristolainen but I cant Rasmus wanting to stick around.
It is what it is. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I’m not up to speed on who has what opinions, just reacting to hello’s comment. I agree I expected Yeo to ride it out even if the team didn’t improve or became worse. I assumed they’d start their search in the off-season as well. |

High picks don’t matter!
It’s very telling that upon arriving in Detroit Yzerman, who is considered one of the best GMs in the business and helped build a two time Stanley Cup champion, let Detroit be bottom feeders instead of performing an aggressive retool. But what the hell does he know. - psuhockey
They do if you pick the right guy.

This is the perfect time for the Flyers to tank. No one is going to be paying attention to them anyway for the next couple of seasons as the Sixers will be the winter sports headliner by an even wider margin then they have been. They can do whatever they want since they won’t be able to compete against the Sixers for families entertainment disposable income. Those competing attendance figures are only going to get worse. Tank it for Bedard and pray for the lottery to go their way. |

They have and they will again. I really don't understand all the angst from yourself and others on this forum regarding this topic. I really do believe they are down with the Phantoms because of the approaching deadline.
Of course you can have success with developing young players drafted outside of the top 10, but historically (not in every case of course) it takes longer for those players to develop and the chances of those players being top end talent are much lower. Its al about the odds of getting a top flight player and then getting them to contribute to your team as soon as possible. The odds say drafting in the top 5 are your best hope and thus that is what I think the Flyers should do this year and next. - jd250
Again, explain how the deadline factors in. In an earlier post, I asked you point blank why Frost and York can't be in the lineup at the same time that the Flyers are "showcasing" the players you claim they are as the reason for why they were sent down.
So if you can develop players outside of the top 10, we can dispense with the nonsense that the Flyers can't take a similar approach to teams that are effective and successful with developing players.

No Still 3 years left, almost 6 mill in cap hit. Scott wants a retool. I dont see Fletcher moving him. JVR on the other hand is either moved or bought out

Cap space is an issue in moving Giroux even if the retain 50%. Fletcher doesn’t seem to be creative enough to bring in a third team to maximize the return. |

They only fill their venues when they are competitive. When the Sixers sucked 5 years ago you couldn't give tickets away. Bunch of fakes!! |

Oh, that's right. He already disappears every night on the ice. How does a guy that big and making 7 mil a season find a way to be invisible virtually every night? |

NHL players drink a ton of beer and often party. I doubt nutrition has much to do wiuth anything. Lack of muscle however is a huge red flag. Guy looks like he could get beat up by a 15 year old

That’s without debate but there is absolutely a kid factor at play. Kids are all about the Sixers right now and couldn’t care less about the Flyers and that’s been that way for awhile now. Kids ask parents to go to games especially after their friends have went. Stars matter. First Embiid and now Harden, the Sixers are going to be a hot ticket. What player on the Flyers is going to get kids excited to see a game? Lindros build an entire generation of fans. The current management is slowly losing it as there hasn’t been anyone to excite kids in a long while. |

Each of them had full access to a world class weight room and training facility, professional trainers, the best supplementation the team would probably even pay for and that is what they look like after 4+ years??? That is an organizational failure for not making fitness a "skill" that must be honed just like any other.
