Each of them had full access to a world class weight room and training facility, professional trainers, the best supplementation the team would probably even pay for and that is what they look like after 4+ years??? That is an organizational failure for not making fitness a "skill" that must be honed just like any other.

This is the perfect time for the Flyers to tank. No one is going to be paying attention to them anyway for the next couple of seasons as the Sixers will be the winter sports headliner by an even wider margin then they have been. They can do whatever they want since they won’t be able to compete against the Sixers for families entertainment disposable income. Those competing attendance figures are only going to get worse. Tank it for Bedard and pray for the lottery to go their way.

Next season would actually be a better time to tank. Bedard is supposed to be a supserstar

Don't think they are as 2 diff fan bases imo.

Hardcore fans absolutely but casual fans especially with kids, there is a competition for dollars. The Flyers are completely off of kids’ radar.

Well said. Eages should be exciting as well. I am hoping a vet possession receiver, and no OL in the first round (and no qbs)

Hopefully, the casual Flyer fans will take a break, the die hards will moan but will be numerically irrelevant, and the team can slide into the sort of mellow inattention that will give it space to do a revamp that has been generations in the coming.

Even if they don't get a generational talent like Bedard, just flood the system with high picks, as many and as high as possible. Just play the #s as much as you can. Wings have never drafted higher than #4 in the Yzerman years iirc.

NHL players drink a ton of beer and often party. I doubt nutrition has much to do wiuth anything. Lack of muscle however is a huge red flag. Guy looks like he could get beat up by a 15 year old

Have you been looking for them? I come from a large family and that’s all the kids and their friends talk about is going to games.

It's a pretty good trade for both sides actually.

The first rounders are a 2022 unprotected (late first rounder) and a protected 2027 first rounder.

Looks like Paul Milsap is also coming over in the deal.

Sixers hold on to Thybulle and Maxey.

- StepfordSam

It's a GREAT trade!

Those firsts are going to be in the mid-20's, Curry was streaky, We can finally use Paul Reed in a useful role.

Harden already opted in for next year so we have 2 shots with him.

If he walks AFTER next year? We have a new max spot open.

They really are 2 different fan bases. The casual Flyers fan may gravitate to the Sixers, but very few hardcore Flyers fans will gravitate to the Sixers. I myself am totally extreme as I will not only NOT gravitate to the Sixers, but I will root for their continued failure!! I'm a meany I guess!! Or I hate the fact that the Sixers tanked like they did to obtain their stars. Hope they keep failing. The Sixers now have 2 oft injured stars that are supposed to carry them. Good chance that fails!! Congrats!!

You will notice more now. Kids are like smokers: you don’t notice them unless you use it to smoke (ie you have kids) or someone points it out to you.

Why get mad at the Sixers for exploiting the system as it was designed? Shouldn’t you get mad that the system is designed to reward total failure?

Well he did.

Although that was probably to facilitate the deal and it's very likely he signs that supermax soon.

1. I am not proselytizing for that point. I am however agnostic about it. I see some circumstantial evidence. I could be projecting hope and making an error.

2. Depends on what you mean by predicament. If by predicament, you mean current bottom dwelling, sure. But if that is the most likely way to get out of more sustained bubble-team predicament (and that has had at least 15 years of history leading to that), is the former really a predicament?

3. If we have 2-3 years like this, which is what we need, the mgmt crew can be since replaced. But the prospects will stay.

4. I am personally pleased in a nuanced way. I would have preferred to see a more honest tank coupled with young player development but frankly a big market sports team has fans who have certain ...limitations... and those have to be catered to. This might be the only way.

5. I do also fear that the tremendous moanings, and the utter inability to see the big picture, will convey message to mgmt that they need to do something urgently to bring back respectability and we will see more short term fixes.

- PT21

Maxxing out your salary cap, paying top dollar to a coach you fire, and trading your #1 pick to produce a season like this would seem like a predicament. Fan attitudes like yours are why people say that Philly ain't a serious sports town. If this is no big deal to you, what is?

It will be done over the summer.

I find it amusing so many hockey fans just hate basketball. Like it's some sort of contest.

Basketball rocks. Is the NBA far watered down from what it once was? Absolutely. But so is every other major sports league in this country.

I used to love basketball in the Bird/Erving days. All the way up through Jordan and Barkley. I hated Iverson and the whole attitude players like him brought to the game so I stopped watching for a good long while.

But now I watch all the time because we get to see a generational stud like Embiid on a nightly basis. He is so fun to watch and I love his whole attitude and demeanor.
