The only top 9 player with a lower ES GF% than MacEwen is Hayes, who has been struggling with injuries.

Frost, for example, is doing much better at ES than MacEwen, and yet he was sent to the AHL while Zack played his 44th straight game. Gee, I wonder why the Flyers are one of the worst teams in the NHL.

- Feanor

How is HF boards handling the Frost demotion?

Wouldn't you expect all 4th liners to have a lower ES GF% than top 9 players? Don't get me wrong Zac is not an everyday nhl player.

He's a fourth liner. Everyone knows that. He brings it every game and is fun to watch. Last night was probably his best game of the season. I enjoy watching him play. Were the Flyers a better team his fancy stats wouldn't even be brought into question because he's a fourth liner.
- Scoob

What does he bring exactly to help this team win?

The only thing be brings is poor play. Goals for and against isn't even fancy.

Not disagreeing Frost should be up. I was on record before the season started saying Frost & York should be line up regulars.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

Why talk crap on CC & his decade of dreck. It’s much easier to pick the low hanging fruit especially so all the fanboys can continue to wear their CC jerseys cause we all know points are what determines good play not things like you know effort

Yes, because it takes no effort to amass the second most points in franchise history.

If I recall SV was commenting on it because he knew Hart was better than that and needed to make changes to get back to what he really is. SV wasn't saying Hart sucks.
- Scoob

Not saying he was damning Hart's potential either. Point is, Hart apparently had both technique and confidence issues less than 12 months ago. I do realize it is different for goalies, but it could be argued some of the same logic applies as York and Frost. Needs more exposure to iron out kinks? Then play him. Doesn't? Then let Jones handle some of the duties.

There is nothing to look forward to really. They have no star players. No potential star players in the system. No quality GM to help turn it around. No up and coming coach to give some semblance of better play. Upper management is delusional. Gritty is their best marketing tool.

They are the Oakland Raiders. 2 once proud winning franchises who just suck.

This is just a suggestion and not being my usual smart ass… watch flyers from afar because as you mentioned it’s just useless. Pick a team that’s young and exciting and operate from this century and do it right. It really helps to keep interest in hockey.

Go canes!!!

Tenure & opportunity help. Sometimes he gives effort more consistently when he was trying to prove himself. Got term & got paid & put it in cruise control. Games where he plays 20 minutes & doesn’t register a shot attempt, hit, blocked shot, takeaway are far more the common occurance now

Yes, but after a few seconds a coach has to realize there is only 4 players on the ice and get someone out there. Come on.

It's ridiculous. There literally is zero reason to watch this team. The building was half empty last night too. Maybe that will send a message.
- PLindbergh31

But hey the marketing department and fan experience teams are doing great things per Dave Scott. Have to focus on the positives!

Bill, I agree and I think they should add Sushko, Morin and probably Laczynski to the RFA’s that they let go. The Flyers routinely extend to many prospects that have no shot at being impact players at the NHL level IMO. They are always near 50 contracts which limits their ability to make certain moves should the opportunity occur. I mentioned here that they should have pursued Pius Suter when the Hawks failed to QO him last summer. Last night he was better than all of the above players.
- Djapana

Contract totals never concerned me. It's too easy to clear up a contract spot. I don't see why they would let Laczynski go unless there is a long term medical issue.

Is there any strategic consistency amongst Flyers fans? York/Frost would benefit from getting playing time on a bad team where their mistakes would be magnified. But Carter Hart would suffer from getting the time on the same team because he will lose his confidence?

Also, I agree with xShoot4WarAmpsx. If we all agree we need 3L33t talent, how does it matter which way we go if we get closer to that goal? Is it injuries? Poor mgmt? $ driven myopia? Tanking? Gee, I dunno. But am pleased all those roads lead to the desired goal. I am hoping the stretch ahead yields no wins, not until the Hawks game at the earliest.

We owe Yandle a debt of gratitude for coming here and providing the excuse of the streak to improve our draft position.

And as for the coach we may forever be in debt to him for his Yeoman service.

- PT21

Goaltenders are a completely different animal and it is the position that is mentally the most difficult and challenging. Have you been following hockey for any length of time? The goalie is also out there for the entire game so the weight of the team is exponential on a goaltender.
Where you and xShoot4WarAmpsx go wrong is not understanding that how you handle players and your team is a major factor. A teams growth is not just reliant on getting a high pick. How the team conducts itself overall matters. When a team is this dysfunctional, they get called out on misspelling a players name on the arenavision. Where perhaps if things were going well, it's over looked.

It was longer than 10 seconds. Giroux put the puck around the boards but there was no one there. Wings had a 2-on-1 shorthanded rush. Hart made the save. Even beyond that, it took an additional 5 or 6 seconds.

I asked Yeo about it post game. Asked him if there was some confusion or miscommunication about Mayhew replacing TK on the change or if no one on the bench subsequently yelled to get out there. He put it 100 percent on the player:

"That was just somebody not being ready for

- bmeltzer[replacing] their guy. As a coach, you’re sitting there watching and you’ve got a two on one in that situation, so I’m watching that play. But the communication was there on the bench that we had four guys, but still took another five seconds for the player to be ready. We have to be sharper. To me it was a prime example of where our heads were at. Assignments that we’ve drilled over and over again, shown on video over and over again, that we were missing right from the start of the game."

He waits 10 seconds on a player? The Flyers are just weird in what they do and tolerate and what they can't abide. Both of these guys should be gone. This organization is so unprofessional in everything it does. Yeesh.

Leave him alone. He is a friend of Chuck and Chuck needs friends now. Even if he has to pay them to be around.

Imagine being a goalie on this team knowing there is no margin for error. You pretty much need to perfect every game. That is just something that doesn't happen.
