Holmgren should just fire Yeo and coach the rest of the way. Bring in Keenen just so I can be entertained.
It is clear as day Yeo is a joke and an ext of AV. - hello it's me 2050
I would prefer Torts. He would speak his mind and make things entertaining at least. I could see him telling the media to ask Chuck why he thinks an AHL team should win games in the NHL. The entertainment factor would be off the charts and would take this franchise from a legend in its own mind to entertaining reality TV. |

how would anything be different with a new coach - 2Real
The power play debacle with four skaters on the ice proves that he is not mentally capable of game-day coaching any longer. Maybe its not better but how could it be worse than that. |

What's crazy is I did not see it reported anywhere other than your blog/tweet. How long do you think they went with 4 skaters on the ice? Was it longer than 10 seconds? Was there any questions asked of Yeo about it post game? - PLindbergh31
Yeo was asked about it, said it was communicated on the bench but then 5 seconds went by before a player was ready. Yeo was really frustrated when he talked about this, sighting the many times he has shown video and gone over this with the team and yet they still do not execute. I know many on here want to blame the coaches, but this is 100% on the players, starting with the veterans on this team that are supposed to be leading by example. |

Tippett fired in Edmonton. What a mess they are. Two of the best, if not the best players in the NHL and they are a dumpster fire. - PLindbergh31
Here's hoping Alain Vigneault gets hired so he can take Mike Yeo along with him. |

They can't. See he is 29 years old and is a veteran. We have to keep the young players who are NHL ready down in the AHL so they can earn their way back to the NHL. - MJL
And you 100% positively sure that is why York and Frost are on the phantoms right now, because they are being forced to fight their way back to the NHL?? |

I disagree. The point of telling him that would be to remind him that it's a team game. He'll still try to do his best to let nothing behind him, of course, but sometimes the reminder of the big picture is helpful.
But yes, goalies gonna goalie, too. lol - Scoob
Point is not to bother about goalie's tender psyche. Bother instead about his play. If it regresses/shows signs of stress, spell him. If not, play him.
Its not like young good goalie + bad team => bad future goalie. Jonathan Quick started on some awful LA teams. Seemed to have turned out ok. I am sure there are many others.

It was longer than 10 seconds. Giroux put the puck around the boards but there was no one there. Wings had a 2-on-1 shorthanded rush. Hart made the save. Even beyond that, it took an additional 5 or 6 seconds.
I asked Yeo about it post game. Asked him if there was some confusion or miscommunication about Mayhew replacing TK on the change or if no one on the bench subsequently yelled to get out there. He put it 100 percent on the player:
"That was just somebody not being ready for - bmeltzer[replacing] their guy. As a coach, you’re sitting there watching and you’ve got a two on one in that situation, so I’m watching that play. But the communication was there on the bench that we had four guys, but still took another five seconds for the player to be ready. We have to be sharper. To me it was a prime example of where our heads were at. Assignments that we’ve drilled over and over again, shown on video over and over again, that we were missing right from the start of the game."
Hmmm ... but to some on this forum we should fire Yeo because his bad coaching is the reason this happens. It's never the PROFESSIONAL player's fault, its always the coach and the GM ... and Risto ... that are to blame. |

I guess everyone needs someone to love. In the Chucky/Bobby crew, you have picked a pretty weird bunch to back TBH. |

I don't disagree. I'd think all players need the occasional reminder that it's a team game and they need to focus on doing their own job, though.

They are on their way to ruining a good quality young player. His game will start to erode if this keeps up. Guaranteed. It's too much weight for anyone player. The have to make a coaching change and bring in a temp coach who is actually going to improve something and get this team playing better and more sound in the fundamentals of the NHL game. - MJL
Not for nothing but Hart didn't look too ready to play last night either. But Oh .. wait ... that is the coaches fault also! |

So what is the coach going to do about it? Know what that is? It's a sign that the coach does not have control of the bench and does not have the respect of the players. Yes it is on the players but you can't fire the team.

Methinks you like dumpster fires if you can't see any management/coaching blame in this situation. It would be nice if someone could say Mayhew never got another shift and there was a news report of his being sent down to Lehigh Valley. That would be something. |

Not for nothing but if not for Hart's play early, the game would've been over in the first period. He wasn't great but he kept the game from getting out of hand and it winding up 1-3 instead of 6-3.

I would like to know after video review how many goals or high quality scoring chances this team has given up due in part to bad line changes. They've been doing that all season. It has not been corrected. - MJL
And of course, this is the coaches fault also! Come to think of it, on my beer league team we rarely have any issues with line changes and we don't have coaches behind us on the bench. Hmmmm .. how could this be possible I wonder? Oh, that's right, we actually communicate with each other and are paying attention to the game! |

Another take from last night's game is how much farther ahead the Wings are from the Flyers. Yeah, the Flyers have injuries, but look at all the young guys contributing to the Wings. That my friends is called having a real GM that knows what he is doing. Turned the Bolts into perennial contenders and will most likely do the same with the Wings. The Flyers prefer ex player dolts to run their organization though. Thanks!! Giroux didn't have a very good game last night, but just wait until he is traded. This team very well may not win another game after he is traded cause they will simply be that bad. No need to even try to tank. - Phillywhiteout

They teach you when/when not to make line changes when you’re a mite. If these bumms are doing it in the NHL the coaching is the least of their issues. No professional hockey team has to teach or talk about line changes. The players are a joke & it starts w cc & not holding any of his peers accountable. Cc & the invisible power forward that is jvr probably laugh everyday about rhe money they make for the effort they put out there - Fopa21

I'm just going off of your posts and how the players have to earn it! I'm amazed with how reactionary you are to the Flyers moves and how you let it mold your opinions. If they wake up tomorrow and say something different, your opinion will change right along with it.
Both York and Frost belong in the NHL.

Yes, but after a few seconds a coach has to realize there is only 4 players on the ice and get someone out there. Come on. - PLindbergh31

Yes, when it happens game after game after game. It is on the coaches. What do you think is their responsibility? I'm sure your beer league team is flawless.

It is on the player. But it’s pretty obvious one of the 3 coaches on the bench need to be on it as well. It’s literally what they are there for. To be fair it’s a new group on the bench, but I agree our beer league also does a better job. |
