right, you're able to precisely predict the ramifications of a covid-free world, good for you
they consecutively beat TOR, WPG and VGK, nobody thought that would ever be possible.
and I'd rather watch the habs right now (surprisingly lol) - Pat1993
There's no predictions being made. It's all hindsight. Forget all other factors, and I don't care how everything else unfolded in the ensuing playoffs. Without that favorable realignment, and only playing in that weak division, there was no way that 2021 team as it was put together was ever going to make the playoffs had it been under the normal circumstances.
And now that the Habs game is finally over, there's 2 more periods left of good hockey with the other game I'm watching.
Play the kids, give them the big minutes, that’s how they will learn. Play Suzuki, Caulfield and Romanov a ton.
It is clear Primeau is not ready, he needs more time to develop. - Symba007
amen. poor kid lol.
and yes, play the kids. as STL mentioned himself, if there's one thing he's good at, it's inspiring others, so he might help them gain confidence. although I'd like to see CC and Poehling play some playoff hockey with the Rocket.

alright, I'll try one last time. not even trying to convince you, just that I feel it's as though I'm not allowed to think this way or something
1-I'm aware the odds would NOT have been in their favor had covid not happened, I agree, 100%.
2-BUT, unfortunately covid was a thing, so we will never know what exactly would have happened without it, unless you have a machine that enables us to travel in a parallel universe where this exact scenario does occur.
3-therefore, they went to the finals, under the same circumstances as all other teams.

You are allowed to think what you want, even if your rationale behind it is wrong.
You keep saying all other teams experienced the "same circumstances." But that's completely false. Because the realignment and in-division only meetings actually made it "unsame."
Put a crappy team like the Flyers in that division last year (in place of the Habs) and they too would probably have made the playoffs. (Tho they wouldn't have made it beyond round 1, but that's beside my point of the inequities of the realignment and limited matchups).

what I mean is every team was under covid, like I've already said numerous times, I'm aware the regular alignment would not have advantaged the habs.

anyway, (frank) this, it's all good man - Pat1993
That's all that I was saying.
I know for the teams that made it, especially all the way to the finals, it was all entertaining, exciting, and satisfying.
But for me, last season is always going to have a personal asterisk beside it no matter who played and who came out on top (including if it were my team). It's not as much as realignment as it was the decision to limit the regular season to playing only within those divisions. That was a major parity piece that was removed. If it were up to me there shouldn't have been a season without the ability for all teams to play each other at least once or twice.
