Guess the team is still playing the system not the concept.
- Mashadar

yeah, many noticed that answer earlier today. perso I think that is a good idea IF you have intelligent players on the ice, like MSL was. not that many on the Habs, and some who will never be able to do so.

I think for MOST players, a system is better... but there are obvious exceptions.

None of those exceptions likely currently plays for Montreal.

yeah they need a structured concept, some points of reference so that they stop being so damn lost out there.

Well I’ve read through 4 pages of this without the answer I’m looking for rather just skip to end. But I’m curious how many former coaches Montreal is still paying now? I know it was mentioned when the season started poorly for y’all but I can’t remember the number only remember it was because of said number most people thought Ducharme was safe.

Ducharme has 2 more years at 1.7M, and Claude Julien is on his last year, at 5M.

Julien is being paid until July.
Ducharme 2 more years.
that really is not a problem, they could pay 20 of them, who cares?

well if he cares he should have his upper management employees (Gorton, Hughes, MSL...) sign contracts without any lenght attached to it.
I'll pay you xx M per year, until you get fired. that's it that's all. like any other business. maybe add an exit bonus, let say one year salary.

yeah you've mentioned this previously, not that it's a bad idea but I doubt the collective agreement allows this, even for coaches and management.

and the habs are maxed out on the number of contracts allowed, they'd have to unload to sign another goalie. jfc.

yes, they need to trade for one, sending a contract the other way. that's why it's difficult. plus other teams don't necessalry want to trade their 3rd goalie.

so, what happens if Montembeault gets injured..?
(apparently he already is and wouldn't be playing under normal circumstances)

My concern is how a team that goes to the cup final based on hard work essentially does a complete 180 and looks like an unmotivated group. I feel like it wouldn’t matter who is behind the bench. These guys arent 9 years old. You shouldnt have to have coach tell you poop to get up for games on a nightly basis.

this is a good point, and why in a certain way I feel for Ducharme. you can polish a turd all you want, it's still going to be a turd...

don't get blind with the cup final. that was only because of covid. without covid this team would have missed the playoffs 5 of the last 6 seasons.
guys played hard in the series for Price and Weber, not for DD.
when they don't play hard, like 120% hard, they simply don't have the talent to compete with other teams. even with a full roster.

I hate that kind of logic, they got there fair and square, all teams were under the same conditions. if you want to dismiss it as a fluke, I get it, but I'd rather remember it as a legit run.

once in the playoffs they did well, very well.
but be honest, no covid, no playoffs.
