I suggest you, and the others who are on about diversity hires for the Canucks/other places, read this article. It's quite good: it's about 9/11 and the CIA's hiring practices that arguably lead to their collective blind spots to the threat that faced them. Basically, a room full of middle class white men who hired middle class white men didn't perceive/recognize the threat that a Muslim man sitting in a cave possessed because their biases and backgrounds didn't pick up on the allusions, scale, and cultural/religious history that was being spoken to.
Whilst running an NHL team isn't the same as defending a country, the key similarity is in intelligence. Having a more diverse group of people with different backgrounds and experiences allows for less blind spots in the organization. It's a move away from the old boys club, and hopefully will lead to a better run team. - NewYorkNuck
CIA recruited, trained, armed and funded Bin Laden to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. An Al-Qaeda proto group called the Mujahideen. This is a fact. Half a decade after the Soviets pulled out, these CIA assets attacked the World Trade Center the first time(96)... then again another half decade later successfully(2001).
Move forward in time to now when the CIA is more diverse and guess what? They are still recruiting Jihadists in the middle east to fight their proxy wars to topple governments. Syria and Libya most recently and that turned into multiple genocides at the hands of their proxies and the overwhelming of Europe with desperate refugees. They have learned nothing and hiring some woman didn't change this nor will it ever. They care not about America's safety or the worlds security. Wake the (frank) up...
Got to wonder if there is a counter media strategy happening with the Canucks over the last couple of years. Ryan Biech was a big mouth critic. Hired and silenced. Rachel Doerrie was a big mouth critic. Hired and silenced. Ray Ferraro a big mouth critic. His wife hired and you can bet the farm he'll be silenced now.

Biech was hired before JR. FA might be insulating himself since all these people have been critical of him. - boonerbuck
but that just goes to show that it hasn't been a coordinated plan. i don't think rutherford would have accepted this job to be dictated a plan or strategy.
he's over 70 so i would imagine the first thing he wanted was complete autonomy.
and from his interviews, he's indicated that he's been thinking about how to construct a "management team" for a while and coming into a situation where he could blow things up and start fresh would be the best way to implement his thoughts.
long way of saying, i don't think this is part of FA's media strategy as i don't think rutherford would allow him to be involved with hockey decisions.

Already hearing retool and 2 years from being competitive type talk from Rutherford. So I'm not so sure about that.

I don't understand your meaning unless you think that he is a win now guy being restrained by ownership?
Even Benning thought the team needed time to become competitive so 2 years isn't outrageous.
I think he looks at this situation as something that he can create from the foundation and allow it to grow. It's his last and best chance to see a team that he can truly call "his," before he retires. I don't think he came here for a paycheck and to listen to a meddling owner. Just my opinion.
