There are certainly positions where experience is valuable and then other positions where a fresh perspective can be a bigger asset than the same old thing. I'll refer you to the mockumentary 'Moneyball', where tried and tested scouting was going nowhere and hiring a fat nerd was the right approach.
Women haven't been historically hired for roles in management, so having experience is an unlikely feature. It's like needing ID to get ID. Tough to find a way in without someone giving you a chance.
