Was it steak knives that the President's Cup winner gets?
Gillis drained the cupboards and let the team age well past the due date. He also locked them in making it even more difficult to wheel n deal. Big deal we won a lot of regular season games in a weak division.
JR reminds me a lot like Holland . A couple of cups , getting on in age , and on the back slope . JR was no where near as good as Holland when it came to drafting but had a similar style pulling the trigger to make moves. Seldom idle.
Holland when he left handed the team to Stevie Wonderful who has made a couple of very good selections over the years but is still not near a Cup team.
As recently as tonight I seen people in here ridiculing Holland.
JR said two years away but I think in two years we will still be debating whether to move Petey and Bo and who we can dump to get cap room.
I have no faith in Canucks drafting at this time but we will see. - VANTEL

Yes it is.

The new thread opened while I was writing it is all. People shifted to the next thread before I even posted. There's literally 2 min between the two posts... so much for that narrative.
Enough with the lies ASL... it's a bad look for you.

Again...then call out your buddies as well. If folks want to post political Jargon on the CIA and 'white males' and then label people 'anti female' lol then be prepared for the responses. If I've said it once it's been 100 times. Don't dish it out if you can't take a little ribbing back. |

Exciting - Nucker101
lol no doubt. Flames and Leafs have both looked good during reg season but if the Flames make it in will be interesting to see how far they go. Depending on who they draw and which version of Markstrom/Tanev show they could win a round... |

Maybe your reading comprehension needs a little work – the article I posted was not political jargon on the CIA. It was an example/case study into how a monolithic hiring practice creates holes in intelligence gathering... maybe if you didn't just glance the surface of things, you'd be able to see the underlying message.
Second, no one is labeling anyone "anti-female" except yourself and those who feel their fragility. Stop projecting?
If you'd like some further reading on the subject that doesn't set off the "political" tinfoil hats, here are some articles on the large positive impact of diversity hires:

I don't know why people keep bringing up gender TBH. The Canucks have hired 6 first timers in upper management . Last time we hired three first timers . I guess doubling the chances doubles the odds of success or does it double the chances of failure?
People forget when we hired Benning he was the talk of the town back then and Linden was the golden boy to calm the media. Enter Allvin and Sedins .
Weisbrod was a horrible choice and we have replaced him with his associates Derek Clancey .
My opinion of Granato has to do with the job I seen her do in Seattle as head of scouting and yikes.
I see so many similarities between this new group and the one that just left.
When I see the names floating around that are mentioned in trades it looks no different to me than what Benning was trying to do. - VANTEL
This will or should be the same from management to management, it's what they do. They trade players to make the team better in their assessment.
Not sure what people are expecting, no names mentioned, "hey we are the new management we will not be trading anyone, great group of mediocre players here but gosh darn it, we're going to be different and never trade or mention trying to better the team...yes I know it's innovative, but we need to be a different management than the last".
Now I was one that was fine with Benning, Linden and I didn't know Weisbrod form the stick boy. Benning had a good go at his vision and it was time for new ideas and a new vision. JR comes in and naturally people will be excited to see the sh[iitshow over a new hope. This is exciting for most until JR creates his own sh itshow and is replaced, then there will be a fringe group that will also denounce the new hires and new vision.
Mentioning gender is pretty well expected, they just hired 3 women that has never been done, this is innovative in the NHL circles.
But there will always be the glass half full argument, this is the same, this is worse, this doesn't align with the first words out of his month, these people never succeeded in anything, these people will be overruled by JR, JR traded picks like candy.
If people can voice their displeasure with the new management team, others can certainly voice their support.
I like the change, because it is change with hope, I personally couldn't give a (frank) that JR had 2 superstars and traded players to win 2 Stanley Cups. I also couldn't give 2 sh its about past perceived injustices that any of the women or men have done...OMG, she twitted that FA should sell the team...that is sooo terrible. |

I know right... people in here who can only talk gender when you talk about these hirings think they are not narrow minded.
Meanwhile, Rutherford has himself set up pretty good right now. You question his group and instantly you are a sexist old white boy.
- boonerbuck
Bullsh it, the only one that is claiming sexist is you, who in here has claimed sexist? The only one spouting off about old white guys is neem and that has nothing to do with hockey he just hates old people. |

Well, they bring up gender because it's hugely novel to have women in roles that have been exclusively male. That seems pretty obvious. Just like having any underrepresented group in a position that they have been excluded from would warrant attention.
As for whether these specific people will succeed in their roles, that's impossible to know and even harder to really metric from the outside. Any large corporate organization has a ton of moving parts, so knowing exactly who does what isn't for us to know.
I'm expect we could do a tracking of years of experience in their role vs. new position chart and apply it to the entire league and their front offices over the last 20 years and I don't know that it would really prove anything with regards to these hires. - micah555
Solid post, this is also that way I look at the situation. |

I grew up across the road from a par 3. Played enough golf growing up to realize it was a lame excuse for a sport. I don't gamble but I'd be willing to lace them up and do shots for cash.
I've seen the Pixies live 3 times and Frank Black 5. Took my Wife to a show for our first date. The guy has written a million great tunes. The one from the Fight Club doesn't rank among the best. If I had to pick, Frank Black- Teenager of the Year would be my desert island album or Pixies- Bossanova.
I'll spin British Steel in place. I don't own Stained Class. |
