As I said, we are a better team at the moment with them on it. But that "better team" is still a playoff bubble team that sold a bit of their future to push up their mediocrity now.
It's impossible to guess what would have happened if that trade didn't happen, as there are so many compounding factors. Who they would have brought in, other trades being made, team moral, firings, etc. OEL is on the team now, I like him and Garland, just not the contract attached to OEL or the situation around bringing them in. - NewYorkNuck
Yes the cost is a sticking point for some. It was ok at least imo.
JB had to undo is mistakes & not let another horrible season endue.
It further shows the lack of prospects depth that 1 1st wouldn’t change much. The hole dug will take 2-3yrs to fix. |

Whining about OEL is standard fan crap. Incessant need to female dog is ingrained in too many fans. |

Yes but ignoring Hughes gets the PP & it affects points. Who would you pay to replace OEL or would you rather Hughes face top lines?
Just asking cuz I don’t think OEL has disappointed & is fitting in nicely & steadily getting better. - Nighthawk
First off, I like Hughes on second pairing.
Secondly, I hate when you ask "who?". I have no idea who's available or what the asking prices are so why play make-believe? What I do know is that OEL has a horrendous contract and it will be a problem as time marches on unless he miraculously turns it around and becomes the force that many thought he would become. Here's one of the many gushing rookie scouting reports on him...
"The Nicklas Lidstrom comparisons are appropriate, as Larsson controls the flow of the game with his dynamic skill, vision, and poise with the puck .. a beautiful player to watch that quarterbacks the play coming out of his own end and has the ability to orchestrate plays through his stellar passing game."

Well, it's standard if you've followed the team through it's entirety. |

Of course I ask ‘WHO’. Far too simple to rail on a player in a trade without supplying an alternative. It’s tantamount to whining if not taken further into whatever other ideas are supplied.
Fanbase tendency is to be negative but sure would be in their glory watching LE Beagle & Roussel supplying them ammo. Just peachy watching & reading a season of that misery.
JB made mistakes. He’s gone. We should move on or complain about inexperienced new hires who have made no decisions yet. |

My driveway knocked me out 7 seconds into the first round.
Feet went out from under me and smashed the back of my head on the ice. Got a huge bloody Fred Flintstone bump now... |

The concern some of us have is that our team is right back to where it was a few seasons ago with LE. Problematic contract that is negatively affecting the quality and depth of the team. |

I don’t equate it to be anything close to then. Yes the contract is a hinderance but nothing problematic.
I’d be more worried on Petey earning his & get it back on the tracks consistently. Brock also isn’t earning his deal let alone the next raise.
Why do they fly under the radar & it’s wait cuz they are the core? Maybe they should effin play like it. They are holding the team back more than anyone. |

JR hired these people and it's being questioned by a small number on here and it should be. Only a sheep would get uptight about it being discussed. Should we get uptight that JR had discussions about the people he hired? How dare he...

Driveway does the same here. Learned I should clear it entirely instead of only to the garage. Allow the melt to run off better. |

Open minded people are open to discussion. Close minded people put all kinds of restrictions on the discussion or outright demand it stops.
Only a few weeks ago you kept asking why people are not allowed to discuss the things you were b!tching about. Now you are playing it in reverse. It's not like it's the only thing a few people here want to talk about unlike you going off over and over about Petey and trades etc.. In fact, you were the person that rekindled the management issue in this new thread a few posts ago.

I imagine if Garland gets traded it will be for a first but I would prefer a very good prospect because I don't think a late round first pick will impact . Either way you are recouping the first that you gave up.
Secondly OEL is playing 20 plus minutes a game and has the most goals on the D and he goes against the other teams top players. Even Edler in his prime had a lot of brain farts just the same as every other Dman that plays in the NHL. OEL has 5 points in his last 2 games . Is that how many Hughes has been gone? Honestly can't remember if it is one or two.
You want to Neutralize OEL's cost then draft or trade for a stud RHD on an entry level contract. |
