Would have been a nice add to second line. At $4.25 mil AAV for two more years after this season, fitting him salary wise would have been tough. This sets the market to an extent. Heineman came to CGY from Fla in the Sam Bennett deal

You have to keep in mind that if we make a trade for someone with an existing contract (has to be at or under 4.5m), we can likely retain what we have but we cannot add anything else to it. So when making the trade you have to consider what position you want to make that commitment to.
