It's too soon to give up on Valimaki - look at Kylington as an example - so that is too much to pay for a 37 year old Pavelski Rental. I know he is going nuts and would be a huge gain for us - but Vali is still too much to pay. Send Connor Mackey in his place instead - that would work - but the Stars wouldn't accept it. They are going to squeeze at least a first out of somebody if they do trade him.

It'd be nuts to trade Mackey right now. He's probably been the best player in Stockton this year and could probably slide right into any of the top 4 spots in Calgary if someone gets injured. He looks NHL ready now and the Flames are going to need some cheaper options next year if they try and bring everyone back.
