Zaitsev with Holden
Brannstrom with Zub
Then the worst pairing in the NHL as our 5/6 no need to name them.
Why on earth didn't this happen last game, this coaching staff.....I'm telling you management told them to change it up on the blueline after what happened against STL. |

Man, 3 penalties in the 1st period by Ottawa, no flow. |

Man does Brannstrom ever suck! Mete's a lot better. As soon as he came on the PP they started getting shots on net and chances. Pump Brannstrom by playing him with Chabot and trade him ASAP. Pierre "Proudest Day of My Life" Dorion can't keep hiding him forever. |

Sens PP in that 1st period, ugh.....Ennis/Sanford/Paul/Tkachuk/Mete |

The thing is, Brannstrom was super last game against STL one of the few bright spots....he was 3rd star of the game for a reason. Mete and Brannstrom are both too small though in my eyes.

I'm behind on discussion lately. Sorry pals!
I like Ennis and feel he has a place. Even though he is 32, seems to still have some applicable skills for some lineup depth. Gaudette has slowed down since his "hot" streak, but the team has also slowed down somewhat too.
Depth is important on competitive teams. We are sort of seeing now that lack of depth. Games are very flat and at times, the team is vastly outplayed. Sens have (even when mostly healthy) a lot of guys playing higher in the depth chart than they deserve to be. Adding a legitimate piece or two one way or another will alleviate that problem push some guys down or off the depth chart completely and thus create decent depth.
I think I read a post that the team could be competitive in 2 years or so. This team has to be competitive then. Next season, this team has to be kicking on the playoff door. This season has to be the final season where bottom of the standing is 'acceptable'.

Brannstrom's hot and cold play isn't going to win him any points with DJ. I'm really trying to pull for the guy and he has flashes of extreme promise but man if you can't bring it consistently, makes you think about possibly working a deal to address another need in the line-up. |

All great points my friend. The reference about Jacque vs. DJ is very true! It's funny you mention that because I'm working on a piece about DJ and a few things going on with the locker room dynamics right now.....nobody in this town will write about it, but I got the green light from my 2 sources from inside the org. - Kevin Francis

My thoughts are exactly same here! 3 penalties by him tonight too putting his team in bad spots. But then he was dynamite against STL, 3rd star, 2A, was great. He has the 2 games this weekend to show he is worthy of those minutes when Chabot is out. Chabot will be back on Tuesday.

I've been doing a few things on it tonight while the game is on.....you know me lol that way from my blogs that I will post only if I get it from at least 2 sources to back it up and if both are in agreement.

Prime example with Ennis the last 2 games and tonight big time.....Ennis has been everywhere! Gaudette has been silent again....like you said, his play has fallen off. But you are so right, depth guys are big man! This team cant be in the bottom 10 next year, no way what so ever! They need to push for a playoff spot or it'll spell the end of both DJ and PD. Go back over the last 75 years, only 5 or 6 GM's have survived not making the playoffs for 5 straight seasons! Next year if this team doesn't at least push for a playoff spot, no way Eugene can justify keeping PD.

The three stars tonight were Watson, Holden and Sanford. Just saying... |

Holden was easily the best Sen on the night! Watson was super.....but I thought Connor Brown was a monster at forward and Ennis was super too....Sanford showed up for the first time in like 8 games, nice of him to put in an effort for once.

Brännström... I don't know. I think keeping Mark Stone would have been better, lololol.
Great for Sens winning, but I want Anderson to get more wins before be retires. He can beat Richter! (American Goalies) |

Being the resident gambler, I was stunned to see Ottawa beat Buffalo tonight. I thought for sure Anderson would get the win against his former team.
