Boeser is bigger so I’ll go with him. Garland is the same size as my chihuahua. |

Good thing he plays bigger than his size i guess. He runs through people. For the people who like grit, they'd love Garland.
I personally just want good players, regardless of size, so this can improve and make a jump. |

Frank Seravalli hints at the Devils interest in Brock Boeser, and mentions that the Devils and Canucks have gone well down the path of Boeser trade talks in the past. Never said if it was this current regime or the previous one though. - vlongo4419
Friedman added onto the Boeser rumors by saying the subplot here is his next contract because his QO is high. Teams interested in trading for him would like an idea of what his next contract will cost, and this could impact the return that VAN gets.
So maybe hes cheaper than expected? |

It's reasonable to think that since Garland's contract is locked in at a good rate long term that the asking price could be higher since he'll likely grow into that contract. Whereas Boeser with injury history and high qualifying offer seems likes a harder contract for teams to want to take on without negotiating the new contract prior to the trade. And from Boeser's side it makes sense to not want to re-sign because if Canucks don't tender the QO he just gets to go to free agency and pick where he plays. |

This losing crap sucks. It was much easier to handle in the 1980's when we were a new franchise with low expectations. But now it is just never ending. Now I know the misery Sabres fans feel. The 2003 cup run feels like a life time ago. |

The point that I keep making is if Nico isn't good enough to be 1st overall, who in that draft class would have been and why would the team ever pick them. There were no Devils fans saying we should take Cale Makar over Hischier or Nolan so why is anybody mad. Nolan Patrick is clearly a bust and that was the only guy that people were thinking of taking over Nico. So even toying with hindsight bias Nico was the pick.
. - Pomegrant
Up until last season people were saying NJ should have taken Elias Petterson first. Not hearing much of that anymore. Makar would have been a great pick that would fill a need but Nico was still the right pick with the info available at the time.
Having taken a look back at the 2017 draft, it could turn out to be a good, deep draft for NJ with Boqvist, Zetterlund, and Studenic all contributing from what wasn't considered a good draft class overall.

I know its a bogus stat, but it still shocked me to see that only 4 players on Devs were in the plus column and the leader was White at +2. Just ugly. |

Getting Garland or Boeser with Zacha being the only roster player headed the other way would be great. I just don’t want to give up this years first, it’s sure to be a top 5 with our goaltending and I’m sure Vancouver could get something better than a Zacha, Bahl and a 2nd package elsewhere.
With Hughes coming soon and Siegenthaler looking like a steady top 6 I’m wondering if Ty Smith might interest them to go along with Zacha. I’m sure Vancouver would like to get cheaper on D considering they are paying Ekman-Larsson and Myers a combined $13 mil for the next few seasons. |

Yup, he does interest them. It was reported tonight that the "industry" believes Ty Smith is the Devils 'prospect' that the Canucks like the best.
So maybe we're looking at something like Smith, Zacha, and a pick for Boeser. Garland would be cheaper, as I mentioned before. |

Rather Garland personally. The whole contract situation with Boeser, not to mention his health, worries me. Rfa at seasons end, due $7.5 million QO without a contract extension… he’s not worth $7.5… and what does that say to Bratt who just had a rough contract negotiation before the season? He’d probably want $8 million plus… there’s a trickle down effect here if it’s Boeser… an effect I don’t like. |

Yep all depends if Boeser is willing to sign long term. He's a better player than Garland but it all comes down to that contract. I wouldn't give him more than 6-6.5 on a long term deal. And that should help get Bratt around that number as well. |

With the amount of cap space the devils have they almost need that 7.5 mil QO to reach the cap floor. Can give Bratt the money he deserves and try to work something out with Boeser, maybe a 2 year deal around 5 or 6 mil. |

Nah they don't. They'll be above the cap floor with the Hughes and Bratt extensions kicking in. The issue isn't the 1 year of 7.5M, the Devils can easily afford that on the cap. The issue is if Boeser takes his qualifying offer then it walks him straight to UFA and he can just leave after 1 year. So if we're trading for him, we need to know that we can get him on a long term deal. |

Just saw the blues goalie situation. Apparently they need to resign Husso .. already have Binnington, but are against the cap. Maybe we could offer them something for Husso? |

Then that is not the ideal situation. Would have to imagine devils would want to discuss an extension before trading for him. He is American born so probably hates being in Canada. Maybe playing on a line with Hughes would be enticing enough for him to sign a long term deal. The injury history isn't ideal but he's exactly what this team needs in the top 6. |

Yes, that is what Friedman said. Teams want to know what a contract looks like and if he will sign with them before making the deal. Which will could supposedly VANs return |

I wonder what the ask would be
Just looking at the counting stats
43gp 14goals 13 assists for 27 points
I know there were rumors of Vancouver being interested in zacha
Zacha and a 2nd? - dmarsden2988
If that is the ask lets make the deal! When put in an offensive position, Zacha has been decent, but not great. When he played in a defensive role, he couldn't crack 20 points in a season. He's frustrating to watch because he has so many tools, but can't seem to get them in sync. Consistancy is everything and I'd be happy to add exactly that with Boeser, or Garland. Boeser has paced for 32 goals per 82 games since entering the league, and at 24, should be just entering his prime years now. Garland doesn't bring as much goal scoring abilities but he is an absolute badger in the corners and his AAV and term are both great. Either one would be a win.

Agree with this, except that Garland doesn't bring much goal scoring abilities. Over the past 2 season(so not using this season where it's considered a down year for Boeser so far) Boeser has scored 1.09 G/60 and Garland has scored 1.11 G/60. At 5v5 Boeser is 0.8 and Garland is 1.01. Boeser has just gotten more opportunity in terms of ice time and pp usage. So they're both top 6 goal scoring wingers.
Hopefully Fitz is able to get something done. |

Get him over here next fall… wouldn’t be opposed to his head coach, Bob Hartley coming with him either. Everywhere the man coaches, he wins. |

14 NHL seasons and 6 playoff appearances. Not sure that equates to a winner? So yes, he would fit right in

Won QMJHL title.
Won AHL Calder.
Won Stanley Cup.
Won the top Suisse league.
He’s had 4 under .500 seasons as a head coach in all leagues he coached. He’s over 100 wins in the NHL over .500. Even had 3 winning seasons with the Atlanta “Trashers”… you might be a little short sighted. |
