huh. from what I've understood even the artist who composed the song was happy with how it was being used, the irony used in the lyrics was intended to be a message against homophobia, and most protesters were very uncomfortable/mad because of it. I just find it's kinda funny, sorry if it offends you.

It doesn't offend me but the idea of using a marginalized group to further an agenda based on the idea of hate (regardless of whose hate and what drives it) bothers me. They'd have been just as mad if they blasted show tunes or Barry Manilow but there is a clear hate and homophobic element to it

Different party, but some times we had the whole "centre sportif" to us after it closed, playing king of the court while drunk is legendary (ya know the one were you hit the ball and you have to switch court side, maybe 8-10 persons on the court at the same time)

The intent of those playing the music is to amplify the hate and homophobia to further the anger of the protesters - the intent is to amplify hate on a marginalized group. It's the intent that I have issue with and it's obvious what the intent is.
