Sportsnet 650@Sportsnet650·46mDhaliwal on Rathbone: Sounds like Rathbone is ok. He was released from the hospital early this morning. Nothing broken. They're going to monitor whether he has a concussion.

Well, the boys have 33 games remaining and in order to get to the magical 95 points to get into playoffs, the team would have to go 22-10-1 to get to those points.

Can they go on that type of run?

- Reubenkincade

I don’t see why not, I really think that people here are discounting the effect of just firing Green has had.

14-6-4 since Boudreau took over, that record is also taking into account of multiple top end players missing for several games in a row because of COVID protocols. And two shutdowns of 13 days and 10 days with no games.

Now we will see how the team performs, as they are all finally allowed to play. They are paying 700 hockey with fill ins can they continue that level of play with everyone back.

I’m not saying it isn’t possible, but 4-3-3 in the past 10 is a better indicator than 14-6-4 of this team I think. They got a nice Buddha bump but this was a bubble team at the start of the year under Green as much as it’s a bubble team now.

It's been a nice bump but I really don't think this team is good enough and Demko has helped them win games they shouldn't have.

+1

Their overall record under Bouds is great, but their recent record is pretty meh. There have been injuries/COVID issues pulling top players out, but the team has also had some stinker of some games as well in that span.

They haven't won back to back games in their last 10 games/since Jan 18. That doesn't really scream "strong team".

Been the MO for a number of years now. Demko just took the reigns from Marky.

And having a Vezina-quality goalie is fantastic, but that shouldn't be the entire identity/win condition of the team.

I think they also lost games early on where they should have won. They were never as bad as Green’s record.

I would disagree a bit. The last 10 games Canucks have played 5 top 12 teams.

33 games left, they only play a top 12 team 12 more times. Schedule gets a bit easier like when Bruce first took over, the schedule was easier.

If they aren't in a playoff spot by the deadline, I would probably sell a bit

Avalanche, Wild, Stars, Blues, Blues, Knights, Knights in a row right after the TDL.

Maybe, but the stinker against the Islanders, and gutting out a win vs the Leafs when being badly outplayed I think is exactly what this team is.

Edit - maybe a more dangerous situation is being on the bubble before the deadline then going cold on that streak vs playoff teams…

With the way JR has gone so diversified in his signings, he should go after free agent Kia Nurse. Just set the Canadian record for points in an Olympics, and if she’s 1/2 as tough as her brother she could be the sandpaper this team lacks.

Kia plays basketball, Sarah plays hockey and was the one who set the new Olympic scoring record.

Yeah. It would be nice if one of our core developed into a Hart or Norris contender to compliment our great Goaltending.
