Look at the roster. Not sure why its a surprise. People dont like to hear injuries as an excuse but the reality is the Injuries have had a huge impact and this season has been the most ridiculous season I have seen in regards to injuries.

Half the D is AHL caliber (Yandle, Seeler, Conaughton). Bottom 6 is AHL caliber (Willman, Macewan, Mayhew, Ratcliffe, Frost and Bunnaman).

Then you have to consider the players playing big Minutes.

JVR a guy you would expect to step up hasnt. Theres a reason He's typically been used on the 3rd line.

Konecny another guy who has yet to step up.

Laughton moved up to #2C.

Other teams deal with injuries but theres two significant differences. Flyers have been hit hard losing a lot of their top guys (Ellis, Hayes, Couturier, Farabee. It would be like PIT losing Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel and Letang). To be clear im comparing importance to the lineup, not their talent level, PIT players are by far more talented.

Second reason is the lack of depth. The Bottom 6 call ups just havent been that good. I will give Ratcliffe some credit in the small sample size. He has done OK but the quality is not there. Laughton or Frost cant replace Hayes in the lineup. A healthy Hayes is a puck possession monster. Despite the lack of speed he hung onto the puck and bulldozed his way to the front of the net.

At the end of the day a healthy Flyers team would be a much better team than we are seeing.

Maybe just maybe someone can speak the truth about Prov and his deplorable contract. He is a 21 - 22 min guy playing 26 mins a night and has 0 biz touching a pp.

You can’t trust him late in games. You can’t trust him at all late in games anymore. He is actually getting outplayed by Braun right now. We are paying almost 7 mill to a number 4 dman who is regressing every year.

If you can get a number 1 for him you trade him in a heartbeat. Amazing the abuse some players get and yet this guy goes unscathed by the media and by supposed analytical fans here. Does anyone actually go the games and watch this guy?

Why can't this team just learn how to get blown out, so that we can turn off the game and be done with it! This is torture. Anyway, does Yeo have any concept of coaching? I don't know how many times I saw the Caps first line out against the Flyers 4th line. How does that happen at home? Nothing to say about Provorov....there is just nothing to say. Morgan Frost continues to suck as an NHL player. He is either simply too weak or he doesn't have the compete level to perform at the NHL level(probably a little of both). Just look at the 3rd Caps goal. Frost basically gets manhandled by Carl Hagelin. Only 9 minutes of ice time and he got what he deserved. I am totally unimpressed with his game. Thanks!

I hear you on Frosty! I am still holding out hope that he will perform better if surrounded by better players. I am afraid he will be the next Jason Akeson but hope I'm wrong.

Guys, we’re only six wins ahead of Montreal at this point. The sooner we move pieces the sooner we’re looking at a top 3 pick. They’re really that bad.

i would love them to start moving pieces

Agreed that "monster" is not the best word when talking about Hayes, but the points about depth are spot on. Injuries are not an excuse but all teams have them. Our issue is the replacements are just not good. Also, as far as TK...I was always a big fan but how long was his scoreless streak? Yea, he put up some points recently but where was he when we needed him?

Why aren’t injuries an excuse? What team can have this many players missing from the top of their lineup without it having an effect? With a full lineup they are, maybe, a playoff team. Nothing special. With all these injuries they are what you see. It’s no mystery.

A healthy Hayes is a puck possession monster? Are we talking about the same Kevin Hayes? He's never been over 50% in CF% as a Flyer
Konecny has 7 points in the last 10 games. Laughton has 10 points in the last 10 games.

How quickly we forget how a healthy Hayes had many breakaways in year one. He ofter held onto the puck and forced his way to the front of then net. There were also several times on the PK where he single handedly killed a good chunk of time holding onto the puck with multiple players on him. Your fancy stats dont show that

No he shouldnt but thats part of the issue with the D right now. Provorov leads the team with 18 points, Sanheim 15, Yandle 14, Braun 12, Ristolainen 11.

In all honesty Ristolainen is a better fit on the PP IMO. Id even prefer Sanheim. Neither guy really had a chance on the PP yet Provorov somehow gets on it with a measly 4 PPP on the pop unit. Yandle has 9 on the 2nd unit.

This team just doesnt use players properly. They try to force them to be what the team thinks they should be. Ristolainen is a big player that plays with some nastiness so they play him as a defensive defenseman. That isnt his strength. I literally watched him chase a guy to the blue line once in the defensive zone. Maybe that isnt all on him but it isnt how you defend. You need to read the play not chase players around. If a guy gets away you typically switch coverage.

If you are chasing, it means you are behind them.

I'm not surprised. I did think however they could at least get it to OT

No team has the depth to replace 2 top 6 centers, a first pairing defenseman and numerous other players. Other teams depth players may certainly be better. The point concerning Konecny was that he has stepped up recently.

I didn't forget anything. So a few breakaways, and several times holding the puck on the PK makes a player a possession monster? There's nothing fancy about it. If there are any players on this team that are quality possession players when healthy, it's Giroux and Couturier. You simply made an inaccurate statement disproven by the facts.

Flyers play man to man coverage in the defensive zone.

Your mistake was using the term "puck possession" informally, where it already has an assigned meaning different from what you intended. You meant that Hayes is good in holding on to the puck when he wants to. I agree, though I dunno what PK breakaways have to do with it.

As to rest, Vegas played without Eichel, Stone, Martinez for large parts of season. Tampa had both Kucherov and Point missing at the same time, and Pens had Crosby and Malkin out. All those teams did very respectably during injuries. Teams that not just regress but utterly plummet due to injuries are usually fundamentally poor teams.

Be grateful for the injuries, and hope fervently they linger through the next 2 seasons in their effect, and everyone comes back as good as new thereafter.

The issue is that you don't have the self awareness to realize how inappropriate your constant posts about people are.
