True and sad
Would Giroux be worth the likely cost for Colorado?
O’Connor: My perhaps slightly biased opinion? Absolutely. Giroux has spent the past two years trying to carry a limited Flyers lineup on his back with little help, and in truth, that’s been the story of the bulk of his tenure in Philadelphia. It would be fascinating to see how he would perform given the luxury of playing more of a secondary role. I wouldn’t at all be shocked to see his efficiency rates jump even higher, given lesser responsibilities and a more reasonable workload.
But even if he simply remains what he is right now in Philadelphia — a first-line-caliber play-driver and second-line-caliber scorer who can play all three positions, contribute on the power play, kill penalties, and win a ton of faceoffs — he’s still one of the top rental options in the marketplace, and certainly worth a first-round pick and more from a contender looking to load up for a playoff push. - wcorvette
It’s nice to read posts like this. Last summer Giroux didn’t have the legs to play center according to some. Give the guy his due. There is very little he hasn’t done for this team and can’t do for another team. We shouldn’t be selling this guy short |

They aren't going to be able to sell anyone on Tocchet. I'd prefer they hire Tortorella.
Is the guy a jerk? - Yes
Does he have a short shelf life?- Yes (As do majority of coaches).
That said, his teams at the beginning of his tenure are prepared to play. I think he motivates through fear/intimidation. If you don't perform you don't play. I think this team needs a disciplinarian head coach. And more importantly a competent GM to rebuild the roster. - PLindbergh31
If they're going the retread route (and I assume Trotz isn't fired), I want them to go with Torts. I'm fine with the short self life, no coach makes it that long here anyway. |

they core is ex selke, hayes, tk, ivan, sanheim, laughton, atkinson that aint young.
Chuck will not roll the dice with one of those as the backup. Need a "vet". be shocked if he did
What young core are you referring too? - hello it's me 2050
Farabee, Konecny, Sanheim, IP, Ratcliffe, Frost, York, Zamula, Allison, Attard, N Cates, Tanner L, and Lindblom. I still consider all of them young and good prospects. I would like to add the Sushko but I don't consider that possible with our FO. And the goalies, including Hart.

Trotz isn't going to be fired. They will write off the season to the covid outbreak and starting the first month of the season on the road. |

I agree with this and not just for the entertainment factor of watching him butt heads with Philly sports media. He is a very good coach and will also not tolerate the no-show mentality that some of our players are known for (not now, FOPA21, not now). |

Was hoping he would take over after Vineault and still have hopes that he's the choice after the season ends. GM? just no Chiarelli. |

That isn't going to be your core next year. Besides if that is your core a big yuck.
Joel and Hart sure. They will be in win now mode and majority of those players will not be on the roster next season.

I didnt see that, i saw gerbe manhandle him, pushed him back about 6-8 feet, then pushed him over. Truly embarrassing - bradster
Gerbe is (frank)ing jacked. Just because the guy is short Sanheim should have been able to take him?
Didn't Tie Domi make a career out of hanging with dudes that towered over him? |

philly media are soft wussycats. Do you see the flyers coverage? They are all under comcast control.
Unless he has no offers cant see what he takes this job.

Sorry, that should be the core and you build from there. You may be right but win now and this team seem mutually exclusive. Of course, Chucky/Bobby are one big fool's errand so your prediction may be spot on. Your "core" is going nowhere fast. Mine has the prospects to turn into something really strong particularly if Brink and Wisdom and some of these other kids turn out. But, hey, young, fast and skilled do not appear to be what we are looking for. |

Why should that be your core? Majority haven't done jack schitt at the pro level as haven't even played 1 pro game. Some are just secondary depth pieces.
No one in that group has star potential. That is a huge problem. |

Not the greatest analogy. But I get your point. Domi was 215-220 pounds and his head was as hard as a cinder block. Domi was short, but he was also one of the top enforcers in the league at the time.
Gerbe is like 5'4" 170 pounds. I've legitimately have seen 4th graders bigger than him.

Not on his rumored three team list but I feel like G would be a great fit in Washington. Imagine Ovi on PP1 and G on PP2 with Wilson causing havoc in the playoffs to draw penalties.
Not to mention the Lavi reunion. |

I see it how Stepford Sam sees it. Tocchet, which I'm not thrilled about. I can see the Flyers brass though thinking it will be a way to reconnect with the fanbase. |

Wait for the playoffs. Someone will get canned for failing to meet expectations . They always do. |

I'd bet Chara was close to Gerbe's size when he was 10.

My son went to kindergarten with a kid that had to be at least 5'8. He was taller than me!! Granted I'm vertically challenged at 5'7.5 (gotten get that half inch in!). |

That is the young portion. I fully expect Coots/Hayes and Cam/Laughton to be part of it. With better coaching, that is a very solid group. As for the coaching ... |

That is who we will get but not because he is the right guy but because it is the most defensible selection.
