willl it be a retool or a full rebuild? - deadpoulet
they already have a decent pool of player to build from, it's not they are starting from scratch so I call it a retool. Young guys already with the team or with a strong chance of making the team in the near future. They seriously need to build up the talent pool up front IMO.

Dude you can discuss whatever you want, I'm not one of the one's calling out some of the batpoop stuff you go on about. But if you want to try and mock me I'm happy to point out the humour in it based on the poop you fling in here |

Knowing somebody shouldn't be very high on the list of reasons you hire somebody for a competitive position. If anything it may be a detriment. There are so many organizational studies that back this up. Yes men are built from known relationships. If Gorton is scared because of what happened to him in NY that's a flaw he needs to work through not a good reason to hire friends - Takemedrunkimhome
Yet it keeps happening.
Sometimes for the wrong reasons, and it's a massive failure.
Other times it's for the right reasons and it leads to great success.
Bottom line, only Gorton/Hughes truly know what they brought in and they should be judged based on the results alone. Not how it "looks".

I liked the first trade and stated so. Doesn't mean I shouldn't question questionable moves and hiring practices. When they do well I'll give them their flowers and when they act in a questionable way I'll call it out. I'm not sure why people are upset by that other than being confronted with issues they may prefer to ignore - Takemedrunkimhome
I just don't put much weight or importance to the fact they hired an advisor, I really don't care. Gorton and Hughes are the guys in charge, the buck stops with them. |

While true, you are obligated to pretend as though this is a GREAT hire then turn on the person when it clearly doesn't work out |

I just see you having another opinion, not more base on facts or anything else. This seems like a minor move, liket getting a depth defenseman for Laval.
I want to see how the team does under Saint-Louis and what they do at the TDL and the draft
But you do have the right to your opinion, last time I check I'm all about free speech |

Fact Caufield played 21 minutes last night, has 4 goals in 4 games and look like an attacking threat. His usage is a decision made by MSL. Yeah, you're right there's no facts in anything I'm saying.
It's probably also just my opinion that the team is trying harder under STL than they were under Ducharme, I mean winning 3-2 over St-Louis and losing 7-1 to NJ are essentially the same.
Right back to work, blog at lunch. |

Which goes back to the only defense anybody can muster for the hiring situation that "looks" questionable is to say "give it a chance". All I can say is If somebody said that to me in a business context with my money on the line I'd be looking for the exit immediately |

I feel the word "fact" is being thrown out there way too much in a discussion about opinions. |

It's the pattern. Hughes was a Gorton friend hired out of left field. MSL is a Hughes friend hired out of left field. Vinny is a Hughes friend hired out of left field. There is a pattern forming and it doesn't look great. I agree Vinny is of little to no importance and if it were just him wouldn't care, it's a (frank)ing advisor position. But it's the pattern of their decision making that is starting to look bad...even if they go blind squirrel and made jackpot hirings, questioning the process seems pretty fair when you look at everything objectively |

That's it. Everybody will scream bloody murder if it goes bad but if, in advance, you call out the warning signs and don't wave pompoms, you're clearly somehow the one who is wrong. |

Argh Gorton told Engels in an interview that surgery is on the table for Edmundson, as in its a possibility, they are also considering a second opinion…. Far from coming back i guess |

That's not true. You keeping saying it doesn't make it more true.
If I've worked or collaborated with someone for many years and know the man has great ideas or can do the job I need, why would I shy away from him? You get that man because you need to be sure of who you're hiring.
It's all about how you spin it and results will tell the whole story afterwards.
So take that exit if you must, but you could very well miss out. |

I think you are reading way too much into this. Every organization I worked for or with has a Sr Mgmt group that tends to surround themselves with people they know, they worked with previously, that they trust. It's about results ultimately. Like the old saying, it's not how, it's how many.
and I mean this in the most disrespectful way possible. |
