Hey, if they're trading Petry? Then it's only to our benefit to see him reemerge...
- Darksyde

yeah I know, 100% agreed, and even if he doesn't get traded, it's to the habs' benefit as well, so, good if this assist in OT can give him a bit of confidence back.

This is the player we were all hoping to see. What a difference. I was literally about to turn the TV off after that 2nd St Louis goal, but couldn't find the remote lol. Worked out in the end. Win or lose, that's the effort needed.

Looks like montreal is picking up points. Time for a big turnaround and late push to the playofffs

That goal in OT was a carbon copy of the Caufield goal setup by Petry last season in an OT game

for the same reason the NHL stays in ARZ or FLA even though they lose money every year. to develop a new market.
women represent over 50% of the population, interest them in hockey early, the more will play the game having role models, the more will become hockey fans and follow the NHL.

I’m glad you’re not the commissioner, nor my accountant. You just proved my point. Don’t want to be a Richard, but propping up one team or two teams in a city that isn’t a hockey hot bed sure is a lot easier than 18-32 teams in cities that won’t fill an arena. Add in the fact that there will next to no sponsorships and advertising, and you have a financial loser.

Let’s face it, if it was profitable to do so, a bunch of rich people would set up a women’s hockey league. However, it wouldn’t wouldn’t work, no matter how much money you invest in it. If some cities can’t fill an arena full of the best male players in the world, what leads you to believe they’d fill it for women players? Remember, it’s the TV contract that pays most of the bills in the NHL. Good luck getting advertisers to pay enough to find the enterprise. It’s just a losing proposition, even though giving women a professional platform is a noble endeavor.

I don't really have a particular stance in this "debate" but one would think starting with 18-32 teams right away would be a recipe for failure, it should start on a much smaller scale imho and build progressively from there.

voilà, 6 teams. original 6. Mtl, Tor, NY, Bos, Chi, Det.
they already have the buildings, hr/accounting/mktg, doctors, training facilities.... wouldn't cost much to start.

There's the old adage about how whatever day it is is the best day to be alive ever due to human advancements...based on observation alone I respectfully disagree
