Bread probably could've had a couple too, if he didn't covet assists so much more!!

That pass he made on the 2 on 1 in the third had me yelling at the tv

I blame your reading comprehension. No one said Strome was better. We said he is a better fit for this team.

This team needs another line that can score otherwise it’s going to be a quick playoffs. I hate Evander Kane, but man we’d look completely different with him in the lineup.

I wonder if Fabbri could be had. He looked good last night. Not an ideal 3c, probably more of a top 6 player, but he would certainly add some scoring juice and has the term, so could be a Strome hedge.

He did just sign an extension and appears to be part of the Det rebuild, so probably not on the block…

Honestly, most cup contending teams probably have 3 top 6 centers. Someone like Jeff Carter could be a 2C for over half the teams in the league IMO. Slotting someone at 3C who has a 2C production, wouldn't stop me from anyone.

May be cost prohibitive, especially if trying to add another third line winger (assuming Kakko replaces Goodrow and Goodrow moves back to the third line). But we have the goods to make this happen.

Need something to happen soon!

Talking to an old friend this morning and he pointed out something interesting:

GMs tend to make deals with organizations that they are the most familiar with. For example, Gorton was from the Bruin organization and made multiple deals with them while leading the Rangers.
Expect Gorton to try and make some deals now that he is in Montreal.

Additionally Drury is VERY familiar with Buffalo: you know all of the Eichel talks means both franchises looked at each others rosters.
Don't be surprised if we make a deal with Buffalo!

There's decent reason to deal with Buffalo, but I don't think he's had anything to do with them for 15 years. If that does make a difference. you'd think he'd be friendly with Colorado too

Cody Eakin is a former Gallant guy and very solid at faceoffs, pending UFA

Every blog in the world has been calling for K'Andre Millers head for his lack of toughness, his over used stick checking and just plain soft. I get it! However, last night the average age of the blueline is 23yrs old! Most of the year its been that way and we sit 7 or 8 in the NHL. The people calling for all the heads to roll, do you really think this team can compete this year? Do you want to move some of these young futures for what, aged seasoned vets on expiring contacts and then what? Start over? Y'all need to take a deep breathe and look for 2022-2023 season. This team still needs a lot of help. The entire 3rd line, a Top 6 RW Top 4 LD Top Center. back up Goalie. The thing I don't wnat to see are a bunch of unnecessary trades for this year. A week here, there ok, but please no future mortgages for a 2022 pipe dream! Btw, last night had to be one of the sloppiest games played this year. Thx to Igor for keeping it close and gaining a point. Out!

I totally agree with the premise of this post.
But, I disagree with your assessment of where we need to look outside for improvement. 3rd line, yes please. Back up goalie who doesn't cost $2.7M, totally. But that's all I want. Deadline, draft day trade, free agency, whenever. I'd like a push for this year's Cup, but not at significant cost.
I feel like Laf deserves some time to attempt to lock down the 1RW spot. And, I think that once healthy, Kakko deserves another long look with Bread and Butter. I also think the more experience he gets, the more well-rounded Miller will be on the 2nd pairing. Not believing in him would be a mistake, IMO.
Where you really lose me is at top center. Where does Mika need upgrades??? He's 8th in the league in scoring among centers! Now winning 52.5% of his draws. Dangerous yet responsible on the penalty kill and lethal on the PP. Also extremely well liked.
Exactly what is it you're looking for there?
