IMO you want at least 1 solid draft pick in the deal, unless the roster player and prospect are too good to pass on. The Rags have a pile of talent, Miller is miles ahead this season though than most of them. - golfingsince
Brings me to 3 types of deals…
Schneider/Kravtsov/1st
-Rags don’t want to offer Schneider
-we take on Kravtsov as a risk
-the 1st rounds out the package
Lafreniere/Lundkvist/Kravtsov
-consolation LW but big potential
-Rags fans again say no of course
-we take on a small RHD who isn’t lighting it up anywhere
-Kravtsov a flake but better than a late 1st probably
Kakko/Either Othmann/Cuylle/Robertson
-looks less than desired for need
-Rags maybe more inclined for this

Wether he deserves it or not, Laffy is playing top line in NY and facing top flight D most of the time. He's 20 years old, it took Nate a few years to be among the best in the league.
I'd do Lafreniere straight up without beating an eyelash. Miller is 30, Laffy is still a kid. We'd absolutely be getting the best player in the deal, just not at the moment. Works for me, it's not our moment. - golfingsince
My reason is LW is not a deep position so fills a big secondary hole.

Another thumbs up. Laffy for miller is fair. Doubt the Rangers do it

My reason is that Lafreniere has elite potental if not probability. He's 20 years old, big, skilled. He has 10 years to become the player Miller is, I bet he does it in 3, likely 2.
If and when you have the ability to acquire these players you do it, especially when it involves the oldest player among your key forwards having his best year.

Agree
Laf is ready & cheaper & need well worth asking for Miller.
I don't think I would if I was the Rags. What does he make you better for, 1 year? 2? - golfingsince
Agreed. Laffy isn’t popular here but he has a miller ceiling (and a good chance to reach it) in a few years. Plus the Canucks would likely have him for 5-8 years

Hey Don , you really think the Rangers would give uo on Laffenier? A first overall who put up Crosby like numbers in junior.
I think we are dreaming , but hell yeah if it's a 1 for 1 , in a heartbeat.

The NHL really needs to make a tweek to contract rules , the old way of paying stars on the way out was broken , but not paying for potential is also problematic. And seeing 2 d like Doughty a d Karlsson wasting away on rebuilding teams at their unmovable salaries is no good either.

Watching Vegas game and they're not the same powerhouse without M.Stone.
Today on bclc you could get 325 on a 100 if Eichle scored , haven't even see him make a play

What tweek?
Why would teams vote in favour to help out other teams cap self inflictions?

Yeah, but we all Stone will be “healthy” by the playoffs
