I really like Severson, but think Hughes is the worst defenseman to pair with him. - Reubenkincade
Depends on how they're used, but yeah, you could always keep Schenn with Hughes and have Severson with Burroughs if you want more Off/Def balance on pairings.
Could always play them together when trailing games |

Why? Severson is more offensive minded than defensive. We already have Hughes, and Rathbone +Klimmer have serious potential. This is bad, even for you. - Retinalz

Subban is too slow now, fine on 3rd pair but anything more and you'll see him get burned by speedy offensive players
The one NJ dman who I've liked when I've seen them play is Jonas Siegenalther(sp?), plays a steady game and is good at moving the puck up the ice but he's young and cheap so they have no reason to move him - Nucker101
Couldn't believe Washington dumped him, especially for as little as they did. Too bad the Canucks couldn't have made a deal like that |

Burroughs I see is growing on fans and posters. Remember y'all who said extend him very early on .
Seriously . I like both Schenn and Borroughs and I am glad are concentrating on 3C . |

Yeah Subban old n slow.
I think Zacha > Hoglander.
Klim is the cherry on top for NJD.
Would happily part wit Klimovich to get out from Poolman and take on PK for a year.
Pettersson - Miller - Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Garland
Pod - Zacha - D ickie
Highmore - Lammiko - Motte
Hughes - Schenn
OEL - Myers
Burroughs - PK Subban
Hamonic
Demko
Halak

Who are the better options? - CanuckDon
If you don’t like the deals available then you qualify him. Worst case he signs. Best case you can work out a longer deal at a lower $. You can always trade him next year, or the year after.
I’ve suggested trading him plenty. If you could get a stud D in exchange then go for it. |

Depending on path.
His close comparables are Klim Kostin, Zemgus Girgensons, Alex Nylander.
Serious potential might have had to look like David Pastrnak, William Nylander. |

The prospect pool is so bad that any half-decent prospect gets overrated a bit just because the internal competition sucks, it's the same with every fanbase.
Plus you have to give to get, I'm sure NJ is just foaming at the mouth for DiPietro, Woo or Lockhart instead |

The top rated prospect pools get overrated as well.
Other than the top few players in the top systems, all the teams have the same quality. Just depends on who's drafting the highest. |

He isn’t worth his qualifying offer so why would you qualify him? On what planet is Brock worth $7.5MM? |

True to an extent, every fanbase definitely overrates their prospects, especially the non-bluechip ones, but then you factor in trades and which teams are flat out better at drafting and you see why some teams have better quality.
Also, prospect pool rankings are always flawed because they punish teams who have 20/21/22 year olds who are already full-time NHL'ers and they no longer qualify as "prospects" |

If he isn't willing to sign a deal between 5-6 million, then see ya Brock.
Even at that, I just think Brock is the starting point for moving players. Him, along with Motte and Hamonic make the most sense to start with.
I like Motte and what he brings, but several here have suggested that Lockwood can provide the same thing at about 700000 less than what Motte will cost. |

Allvin's comment seems to show the plan is sign him for fair money or they will look to move him.

I like Motte, I'd for sure talk to his agent to see what kind of ballpark number he wants before moving him. If he wants JD money then yeah, I think I'd move on. Lockwood can provide the speed, physicality, but not the same PK value, he's also injury prone.
I'd keep the 4th line cheap, but if they believe in Motte as a quality 3rd liner then sure, give him JD money |

Ya, that's what I got out of this as well.
I don't think we should underestimate this guy, he appears quite sharp.
I like him and I don't usually like Swedes.😁 |

Graduated prospects for sure. I'd rather have NHL talent than the greatest prospect pool
So many look great until they get to the NHL. |
