Total sidenote, but it would be interesting to see who on here hated that trade at the time and compare that to their current thoughts on JTM. - dbot
I didn’t like it.
I still don’t like it.
If they trade him now for futures, then they basically traded futures for later futures.
If he signs an extension and the team goes on to have a few successful playoff runs, then I guess we could call it a success. |

Agree…league should reduce teams not expand. - LeftCoaster
32 has to be the max.
Now it'll just be relocation's going forward.
Until we add Hawaii in 2030. I heard it's a fast growing area. |

Dinner tonight? Wife is surprising me when I get home. I’m guessing roasted chicken, grilled veggies and three cheese baked potatoes. |

Yeah but what if they flip him for better futures than what they got him for.
The classic buy low/sell high scenario.
Surely that's considered a win too, no?

Comparing Surrey to phoenix. Also, why to you keep skipping over the fact the stadium is essentially in chilliwack? - CanuckDon
Why would I care where they have, that sounds like a Bettman problem?
He badly wanted a team in Arizona, maybe he should have made sure they could support it with good ownership first and 1 willing to build there aown facility, instead of relying on the taxpayers.

Again, like Golfing said in the last blog, it’s like Ottawa but worse. The team deserves an arena near the city. Portland is a serious sh!t hole and they don’t deserve a team - CanuckDon
Portland’s NBA crowds are great. If they get behind an NHL team it’ll be fun |

I guess it would depend on what it is. If it’s a first round pick, then no. If it’s a player younger than Miller, entering the NHL now with huge potential upside, then I guess it’s a win. |

I just finished lunch 20 mins ago, smoked salmon, cream cheese and red onion on rye bread, probably have the same for dinner if I eat dinner. |

A few years back, I worked with several guys from Portland, huge hockey fans.
They told me they would easily get 15 000 per game, on a bad day

Well it’s one of the fastest growing cities in North America for starters. It’s a major metropolitan that has every sports team. They suck revenue out of the league because they have had brutal ownership and no rink - CanuckDon
In Arizona in 2020, 31.9% of the total population was Hispanic, 53.8% were white, 4.6% were black, 3.9% were American Indian/Alaska Native and 3.7% were Asian/Pacific Islander.
The report cites poor air quality, low public health funding, high crime rates and a lack of inclusiveness as its reasons for bestowing the worst-state status on Arizona in 2021. The Grand Canyon State was followed by second-worst Texas while Nevada and Missouri tied for third place.Jul 21, 2021

That could be said for a lot of US based teams over the years, not disagreeing with you, but it’s not isolated to Phoenix. - LeftCoaster

Portland is 1/3 of the population of Phoenix and I doubt players would want to live there. |

Yup. Just so many big bodies on that team.
Carolina is not a bad sized team, but most of them are of the wiry type, which is fine.
Fun game to watch.
As you mentioned the other about Colorado, there are about 12 teams in this league that are real nicely built teams, and then there are the California teams, Jets, Canucks, Stars, Detroit, Columbus that are bubble type teams way behind in quality and calibre. that are |

Cap wiggle room is the last reason to move JTM. If that is a plan they are strongly considering, they need to be fired now. He is one of the very best contracts in the NHL at the moment.
Any reasoning to move Miller starts and ends with the assets it brings in to help this team long term while sacrificing short term.
The list of players to move for cap space is pretty decent. Miller isn't on that list if any of this management has a brain. - boonerbuck
Miller fetches a huge return or not considered to be traded.
Everything is exploratory during the assessment phase leading up to the TDL. I’m fairly sure JR has a good feel by now. PA is catching up. Other hires are putting in the work to bring it all together. It’s a process that will lead to moves in due time. |
