Salaries this year
Ritchie: $1.7M
Lyubushkin/Dzingel: $2.45M
Lyubushkin/Dzingel are on expiring deals
Ritchie has 1 year left at $3.3M. However a buyout would reduce that cost to $2.2M
If Arizona do buyout Ritchie, they will essentially have bought a 2nd round pick for $1.45M

Ritchie's game sure fell off fast. Banished to the Yotes. |

Let's go Kevyn, put some money on that pay as you go phone and do a little business with that cap space. |

Ritchie is the kind of cap dump the Sabres should be willing to take on for a player has a contract for the 2022-2023 season.
This Season
- Play him the rest of this season
- That helps keep prospects in the minors in case of injury
- That will be more important when the Sabres inevitably trade some of their forwards (Eakin, Hinostroza, etc.) by the trade deadline
Next Season
- Send him to the minors by waiving him
- Part of his salary would still remain on the Sabres cap
- That would help the Sabres get to the cap floor for next season
- Sending him to the minors means he wouldn't block a prospect from an NHL roster spot |

Hopefully Lyubushkin likes it out this way, wouldn't mind the Sabres taking a run at him in FA |

Little bit sideways natrative. Yes, the hit/stick on Dahlin was a penalty, but it wasn't particularly dirty and didn't require a tough guy response other than the badass play Rasmus put in for the rest of the game. I'm usually pretty sensitive to people taking runs at our guys, but I don't necessarily think this was it. Would I complain if someone jumped the guy and started wailing punches in his face? Nope, but this wasn't anything like what we've seen multiple times over the years, IMO. I think Rasmus handled it himself, and I think he's gotten noticeably chippier in the last month of hockey. It all bodes well for him. Very hard to be a GREAT NHL defenseman and not play mean a large amount of the time. |

They scored like 20 seconds after that, should have been a penalty. Changed the whole complexion of the game |

No doubt of that whatsoever. It was a mistake by the referees not a play of weakness by the Sabres is my point. |

When the Sabres skate, they can play with the big boys. But far to many lapses, lethargic play. Happens with young teams, but add a bit more skill and a banger or 2 and gonna be fun to watch. |

Dahlin played great after the hit, the idea of having a tough guy is that play doesn’t happen because Johnson thinks twice before doing that.
