Well said.

Sakic is at the game today...wonder who he’s got his eye on, Chiarot? Lehkonen maybe?

Barron or/and Olausson probably what Hughes would be after.

have you heard of Buttman's comments regarding Marchand's recent suspension?

I have given careful consideration to Mr. Marchand’s testimony concerning his efforts to control his emotions in order to excel as an impact player who plays aggressively, but within the rules. I believe that he has already made significant strides towards achieving this goal. Unfortunately, however, Mr. Marchand’s behavior and lack of judgment in respect of these incidents did not meet acceptable NHL standards. He created a distraction which reflected poorly on himself, on his team and on the League as a whole, and as such, I find he also deserves the penalty he received. Having said that, I encourage Mr. Marchand to reflect on this experience and to use it positively in furtherance of his efforts to refine and improve his on-ice image and game for everyone’s benefit.

whether he stays or not, this is good. if he can string a few good games until the trade deadline it might help other GMs forget about the horrendous season he was having.

Had not read it but Marchand never learns, the fact that he appealed and called the suspension excessive proves that.

I still think he has value, mind you I missed most of the season. But he had many good ones as well.

It's just hard to move 6,5M just like that during the season. He has 3 years left as well.

We'll see, but I would not just trade him just of the sake of trading him.

well, surprisingly Letang thought the suspension was a bit silly, and I kind of get his point, it isn't like Marchand put Jarry in a dangerous situation or whatever... there are a ton of other circumstances in the past that were much riskier or even caused serious injuries, but were still deemed as "hockey plays", so I guess it highlights how the league has a lot of work to do if they want to establish a respectable logic when it comes to disciplinary measures...

yeah, had you watched every game you might be looking at it a bit differently, he's been awful.. and I'm not sure if you were saying he's had many good games as well, but I must have missed all of those, he just started very recently to finally get his poop together (at least I hope, lol).

I meant he had good seasons. Teams may want to buy low. They don't have to move him right away.

It was a punch to the head. With possible concussion lawsuits looming you bet the league is gonna crack down on brainless hits to the head after the play has stopped.

I guess it also depends on how many dmen around the league are/will be available, usually there aren't that many so this could play in the habs' favor.

I'm obviously not a fan of la Narine Marchande, but do you honestly think there was a chance his punch could've caused a concussion? Marchand had his gloves on, and Jarry was wearing his mask...

No but that’s still something the league doesnt want to see, they want to be seen as taking hits to the head seriously, like they care about the players’ health, reasonnable diligence defence

makes sense. personally I'm not necessarily against the suspension either but it does highlight how inconsistent the league can be.

Look at the concussions by the Habs vs the Rangers. Don't get me wrong, Marchand is in front of Wilson in my most hated players. The League must address this, one way or another.

not sure what exactly you're referring to, the only thing that comes to mind is that tragic moment during the playoffs when a certain goalie got his knee blown out by an opposing player who never really tried to put on the breaks lol...
