can we get anything of value at the deadline for Bailey, Palms, Clutterbuck, Martin and Chara? They all need to go ASAP. What about Varly? not the best season but has to be worth a third rounder.

we can get some cap room going into this summer and maybe a bunch of picks in 3rd, 4th, etc.. that you can possibly package to move up to second round picks.

I would think Varly is worth at least a second but who knows.

The #isles possibly offsetting big contracts like Bailey and Varlamov comes as no coincidence.

Per source, early indications are the #isles are preparing to be heavy suitors this summer for Filip Forsberg. Other players, #GoHabsGo and #GoKingsGo

That same TFP blogger did have a good point. Forsberg has never really had a high-end center like Barzal before. That, plus the fact that they're still largely the same team that made two consecutive ECF appearances and the new facilities, might be enough to get him here if we're not far apart on pay.

I mean, if they clear out Bailey AND Varlamov...that's a big chunk of change they're looking at having freed up this summer.

Goalies don't typically fetch much in a trade, so I'm not expecting a ton. Maybe a 2nd and a B-level prospect or something.

Probably dependent on if they have any interest in any of the other guys the Isles have available. Maybe they want Chara or Greene as a depth defenseman or one of Parise/Clutterbuck as bottom-six wingers. Maybe a 1st round pick if they do something like Varly/Parise.

I have to imagine Vegas would need to either move some money out or have the Isles retain a portion of Varlamov's salary to make it work with their cap.

Sakic was at the Isles/Habs game on Sunday. Could have been for any one of a number of players on either team.

Also moving Clutterbuck makes a ton of sense for the Isles. Even if they want him back there's no reason that Lou can't re-sign him in the summer. There should really be no hesitation on moving any of the pending UFA's. They have some young guys that should probably get a long look and moving out some vets and giving guys like Bellows/Salo/Aho a chance to get an extended look from coaching/mgmt would be a smart decision.
