In my opinion, you are drastically overrating what the market will be for Giroux. I don't see teams giving up their best prospects for Giroux or any other playoff rental. - MJL
Where did I overrate? I said the Bruins were a likely destination because they would get a 1st and a guy like DeBrusk. I said only if one of those players is offered he goes elsewhere

1st and a mid rounder. They aren’t getting a 1st and a 25 yr old 1st round pick that puts up 2nd line numbers.
Imagine us going after a 34 yr old rental and a team asking us for a 1st and Konecny. Not gonna happen.
Even when they outplay a team by a significant margin they can't win.
Half way to a third double digit losing streak. As pathetic as it gets. - PLindbergh31

Well that sure as hell isn’t Jake debrusk - ClaudeFather
Steadily around 40 points a season by age 25. Not what I’d call a career bottom six player. A 1st and Debrusk ain’t happening. One or the other. No way they get both.

Averaged 40 points per year? This season and last that’s not true but hey state whatever you want. He’s an incredibly inconsistent player and asked for a trade, I don’t think a first and debrusk is out of the question.

That’s not too far out of the realm of being a possibility. It all depends on if there’s a few teams G is willing to go to and there’s interest on the other end. It will be interesting on what happens in the next little while as the trade market develops.

Giroux is not going to get one of those players. In my opinion, you have overrated what the market is going to be.

I think it's a bit much. Boston can trade DeBrusk separately and get a decent return rather than include him with a first round pick for a 34 year old rental.

They could try and deal him separately, but If there were multiple teams kicking the tires I think that could be a return. Boston also needs more help than most teams.

Few thoughts about the first period.
Morgan Frost 5 minutes in puts on his tools on display but somehow all this skill very rarely results in goals. I don’t know what to make of this kid.
Konency tries to draw a phantom high stick on our first PP. Ten seconds later he’s fine. I hate players like this.
Ratcliffe was the most noticeable of all our guys in the first. How hasn’t he been moved up in the line up? You could make the same argument for Gerry Mayhew who is producing. I don’t wanna see anymore of Willman or Bunnaman. Mayhew should probably play ahead of the likes of Konency and Lindblom at the moment.

It makes sense to trade Giroux regardless of what the return is. In my opinion, Giroux wants to leave and the team wants to move on due to his age and contract requirements. - MJL
I haven’t heard anything that says Giroux wants to be traded.

Which is why they might not want to put all of their best assets in for one player.

They obviously should maximize the return but it’s a guy that has supposedly hand picked a few teams he’d accept and has a high cap hit. It’s not going to be Matt walker and a third but it’s also probably not going to be the best prospect out there and two firsts. Not sure what’s so hard to get. - ClaudeFather
It’s comments like this, I don’t for the life of me understand why you engage.
