I said this before, when you watch video of Kravtsov being drafted, Pierre mcGuire raves about him so now that Pierre is running Ottawa I thought they were possible landing spot

Ultimately, it made sense to trade Buchnevich, the return wasn't enough
but, like I said earlier, they obviously werent getting good eoffers - jimbro83
Verdict is still out and we can’t make a fair assessment on the issue.
Blais was playing well before his unfortunate injury and definitely would have helped with the current RW issue.
The second round pick is the wildcard. A lot of people are all hot and bothered by Cuylle. Guess where he was taken…
For the people who think Buch should still be here: Should they have moved on from Fox or Zib to keep Buch? Because that’s ultimately the reason he’s gone. |

Seems to me people get why he was moved just not happy with the return. Which is unfair because they weren’t flies on the wall during those talks.

Yea I am not saying he should be. My point is its ok to just chalk it up as a bad trade that right now didn't work out at all. Just move on and try to fix it - TPC
Any team who has to deal a player for cap reasons never gets a good return. Why would Drury get more of an offer than what st. Louis offered. It was known that Buch was going to be a cap casualty. Every team has to deal with that and get pennies on the $ for a good player. Hockey trades are a different situation. If Buch had a couple years left on contract guaranteed the return would've been much more. If NYR signed Buch, someone else would've been gone for pennies on the dollar and we'd be female dogingggg about that move instead. |

I think the Rangers and Drury way over valued Blais. That’s my gripe with the trade. If we got back Kostin or a top prospect for Buch fine. And this isn’t a knock on Blais, I love the kind of player he is and think we need more guys like him in the lineup. With that being said he’s going to be 26 years old with a career 17 goals. Could we have gotten Blais who was rumored to be on his way out of STL anyway in a different trade? I think Drury went into the off-season valuing grit/toughness/hitting and it got in the way of making a good trade for us. And before we start the fly on the wall nonsense, what I’m saying is we didn’t “settle” for Blais and a 2nd, I think we actively sought Blais and bc of that overvalued him in the trade. |

it's all clouded up because Blais got injured so severely
if Blais was putting up Goodrow type numbers right now and Buchnevich ws on LTIR for the whole season in St Louis it would feel differently

He’s a cheaper alternative who plays a completely different game than Buch does/did. He’s incomplete right now, Blais that is.
One thing, Blais is a good forechecker and is probably why they wanted him so bad. He fits into a role they needed
The 3rd line should be nice if Chytil blossoms, Blais is healthy and goodrow can just be a 3rd line player instead of a yo-yo..maybe next year |
