The Ranger organization is falling into the same trap that plaqued them throughout the last decade. Depending on Lundqvist to stand on his head night, after night. Now, they're doing the same with Shesterkin.

The team ranka at or near the bottom with shots on goal. The top 2 lines are not going to score many dirty goals. Talented? Yes. Tough to play agsinst? No. And not going anywhere. Unfortunately, that's what playoff hockey is all about. I assume if Drury makes any deal, he's doing it with an eye toward an extensive playoff run. Should he? I'm not sure.

The 3rd line needs to be completely revamped. Teams are going to attempt to pound the Rangers in the playoffs. In order to help circumvent that, the club will need to hit back with the 3rd and 4th lines. Failure to do that will result in an embarrassing exit, see the Carolina Hurticanes.

Sure, they need another sniper, yes they can use a veteran dman with playoff experience. However, if they do not address the need to bolster the 3rd line, it will be all for naut this year.

I don't know, everybody keeps saying this, but Lundqvist didn't have a Norris trophy winner and a Hart finalist in his prime with him

they definitely need to add at this deadline, no question about it, it's going to be the last time they have cap space for the next 3-4 years

say go for it

I completely agree about the cap space. No sense in not using it, and I’m not opposed to moving a few kids to do it. But, I’d like to see the team more playoff ready, that’s all, no questioning the talent

If Kravtsov wasn't a complete baby part of the issue may have already been solved. I can't completely blame him though given how Gauthier, Rooney and Hunt have played. You could even lump Chytil in there too. Kravtsov potentially (likely) has more points than any of them if he stays with the team. I know Kravtsov isn't a C but keeping him on the team may have forced some other guys in Hartford to get a look if Hunt/Gauthier weren't here due to waivers or making it back to Hartford etc.

I have no idea how the hell gauthier beat out kravtsov for a spot on this team. Granted the only thing i remember from pre-season is kravtsov's one timer goal in i think his last game.

Still don't understand how we haven't given pajuniemi a shot over gauthier

Yeah, it's a mystery for sure.

I was pretty interested in seeing what Gauthier could do but I am completely over it now. I am so tired of seeing Gauthier, Hunt, McKegg, and Rooney being sent out each game and accomplishing absolutely nothing. I am still willing to give Chytil some time because he still shows glimpses of skill.

I know we are nitpicking a team that is doing well in the standings but these players are not going to get anything done in the playoffs.

They need guys that can try to stifle the other teams better players so that the top two lines can hopefully lineup against lesser opposition.

Pajunemi hasn't been doing anything, he hasn't scored in over a month and has been healthy scratched

the magic solution isn't in Hartford right now

Certainly seems to be the case.

They need Kakko back, I think it's pretty apparent he's missed from the top 6. That will allow Goodrow to slot back down and help solidify the bottom 6.

Well he is still at least a month away so trades sounds like a better option right now

Originally I thought it might be to generate a few extra $ of cap space but Mercogliano confirmed today, Rangers are going with Nemeth-Schneider and Jones is to play at Hartford. Not sure I understand this move as would much rather see what Jones-Schneider could do as a consistent pair.

if they had Kakko and Blais, McKegg and Gauthier wouldnt be in the lineup and Hunt would be on 4th line

I think they gotta know whether or not Nemeth can be someone who can step in and are gonna give Nemeth the next 4 weeks to see what they have

I'm not sure when the "month" timeline dates back to but I tend to agree. Even if he is cleared to return in a few weeks is he going to be back up to speed right away?

Can they not send Nemeth down to Hartford? What I mean is not caring about him being claimed etc.

True, but McKegg and Gauthier aren't even that great as 12/14 forwards.

I hate how the trade deadline is so late. Teams only get like 15-17 games with the new players before the playoffs

they could if they wanted to, but only 925K of the cap gets taken off, so he'd still be 1.6 mil cap hit

If they were cap strapped that wouldn't be so great but I think that sounds like a viable option depending on how he plays.

It takes two teams to make a trade, most sellers want to wait till closer to the deadline to build more leverage in a trade. Want teams desperate bidding against each other. Drury has been trying to make a move for weeks according to reports but a lot of teams aren't ready yet
