I think in a trade like this we have to consider trading Kakko the other way.
- aecliptic

yea and that would still come at the expense of not resigning strome and then we have a hole at 2C

Where did you see that? He is at $6.4 mil for this year and next. RFA with arb rights after that, so 7.5-8 mil is likely if he stay hot. Unsure how they fit him in and why Chicago would move him. Return would need to be enormous for them
- airjan23

It was a tidbit within a small article about Brandon Hagel. It’s probably something i misread I was under the impression he was a UFA after the next two years

Speaking of 4th line players. Mason Geertsen has 55 PIM in 16 games. and only 15 min are fights
- picklerick

So, 20 minors in 16 games?? Is that really an endorsement?

Pretty sure that includes a few 10 minute misconducts

How would you guys feel about Miller (50% retained) & Tarasenko (50% retained) at the cost of not being able to resign Strome?

Atleast for this year it would be…
Panarin, Miller, Tarasenko
Kreider, Zib, Strome

The cost is more than just not resigning strome but depending upon who we gave up is like it, though still would prefer guirox over Miller somehow

the wild, wooof:

The #mnwild's cap situation is so beyond (frank)ed for the next 3 years after this season. They should go all in this year.

Dead cap space next 3 seasons:

2022-23: $12.7M
2023-24: $14.7M
2024-25: $14.7M

I’m all aboard the Domi for the 3C train.

Goodrow Domi Crouse

Get it done.

Columbus has been playing phenomenal hockey and it actually started when they beat the Rangers at the end of January.

They've had a perfect February and a load of home games in March before deadline

I don't think they are sellers at this point

Panarin, Strome, Tarasenko
Kreider, Zib, Miller,

So you are gonna have Chytil, Laf and KK on the third line??

I think the Rangers are going to wait for Laf and KK to become top 6 players. I dont think they will trade for a top 6 winger. If anything another center.

10 hits in 39 games. FO% is decent but the last thing I want is another 3C who wont play defense and avoids contact.
- aecliptic

EDIT: FO 52% but he hasn't taken many this season, likely because he was substantially under 50% over the previous 3 seasons.

Chytil part of package for Miller, KK for Tarasenko.

LAF, Copp, Jarnkrok 3rd line
Goodrow, Paul, Reaves 4th

But theres no point in discussing this its a complete joke I made up that manages to get under the cap for 2 years with the only loss being Strome.

They have too, since Buchy is playing at a PPG pace now. If they didnt, It would mean we just gave Buchy away.

the Rangers have to be kicking themselves, but other teams have to be kicking themselves that they didn't offer something more too

obviously the action on Buchnevich wasnt that hot

Have to figure at the time of that trade they fully expected Kravtsov to take some of that Buchnevich offense they were going to lose

It wasnt because the Rangers didnt think he was good- he was a cap casualty - They were however probably a little surprised for the amount he signed for- but i would guess his demands to NY were higher than what he got from St Louis

ultimately i get the rationale

Panarin and Kreider signed long term, two top picks used on Lafreniere and Kakko and another top 10 pick used on Kravtsov, why sign another winger long term?

they just should have made a better trade, but then again, better trade offers weren't there
