Yes, that seems to be their view. How well informed and correct that is remains to be seen. As these guys finish up their contracts here, we'll see how many of them end up somewhere else. One thing is for sure, development of talent is not the organization's sweet spot. - iamscore2day
They have had mostly good reports on Sushko since November and were high on him last year prior to injuries and a down season. He was recently recalled by the Flyers but didn't get into a game.

When I look at that record 15 wins in 50 games that is so hard to believe. To avoid 60 losses we need 8 more wins. Dont see that happening - hfc355

They started out 6-2-2. The team has gone 9-23-8 over its last 40 games. |

Couldn't agree more. He and Sushko are great examples of mystifying decisions by Chuckles the clown. I also think that the college kids (or their agents) are paying attention to this debacle. We'll see how many of them choose to come here. When you see what IP and Konecny have become under current management, the ones who come will likely be those with no other choices. - iamscore2day
The Flyers won't have any issues signing their collegiate prospects. Attard, Brink and Cates are expected to sign after this season. Not sure what the plan is with St. Ivany.
They'd like to see O'Brien have a healthy senior year at BU next year because of the small sampling of games played in 2020-21 (pandemic caused season to be shortened to 16 games) and 2021-22 (missed 11 games due to injury).

Time will tell whether any of them go the Kalynuk route. Since the current regime drafted Attard and Brink, that sounds right. Signing Cates' brother might minimize the FA risk. I guess we will see what happens with JOB.

Jay O'Brien is a 1st round pick and will be 23 yrs old at next season start. Put him in the AHL and let him show what he's got. |

He is a point per game guy this year. BU puts a lot of guys in the NHL. Your reaction is what you would expect. Sounds like Cliff wants to be "careful" with his contracts. In this picture I found, he looked bigger at 18 than Travis does now. Do we have a strength coach?

Who sits when Farabee is healthy?
Maybe the guy with six points in his last 82 NHL games could benefit from a night in the Cote suite. Put all that energy into munching popcorn, cause it sure hasn't helped the team win hockey games. |

He's G's direct comp in the trade market, would certainly help the Flyers if he were not available.

Why are the flyers so stubborn and refuse to remove Ivan off the PP? Can you give your opinion. thanks. - hello it's me 2050
Only on planet Uranus does it make sense to play Prov on the 1st unit right now. Sanheim has been flying offensively of late. Get him on the pp.
Sanheim might stink in his own end, but his offensive skills are off the charts. Get him on the pp.
This team loves Provorov… |

They had concern about Kalynuk's signability, although they were persistent right up until when he went UFA. From what I have heard, they feel they are in good shape with the players this year. |

The Flyers' reward for hitting that milestone will probably be another Alex Daigle - Tomahawk
Another Alex Daigle and trading away Joel Farabee because they’ll assume this will be the perfect replacement.
Flyers trade Schenn the day they drafted Patrick. |

Off the charts is a little much but Sanheim is playing well and could use the PP time. I love Provorov. Look, I can understand why some might be a little disappointed in him but Provorov has no business being paired with Braun. First line players don’t play with fourth line players and maintain success. Everyone needs talent to play with. Provorov is no Adam Fox but I think it’s a safe bet he’s not being paired with third pair defenders. |

Re: the trade of Toffoli and the non-trade of Claude Giroux....
Toffoli is signed beyond this year, but was way outperforming his contract (70 p in 89 G with Habs). He was always an excellent 2 way player, and a very good possession driver except last year. Only 29, no NTC, no significant injury history, can play both wings, solid playoff performer. In other words, any team that wanted to could treat him like a rental, and flip him.
Or, if you don't want to think in these terms, Habs could have waited till the off season when there would be a much larger market and every team would have room for someone like TF. Not like they got a king's ransom. The pick is going to be in the 20s or so, Pitlick is a 4th liner with 2 points in 25 games, and Heineman is a guy with "NHL upside" according to Wheeler.
But Habs waited neither for TDL "bidding war" nor off-season "bidding war." Instead, they traded away their leading ppg producer, still young etc. Why?
Because Habs want to make very sure that the ahem draft trajectory of this year and the years to almost certainly follow is not risked. More shedding will almost certainly occur.
Isn't it nice to have a big market storied hockey organization show some brains?

He just 22 turned 22 in November. Besides, players develop at different rates. He has lost time every year to injuries (shoulder injury and concussion freshman year at Providence, six weeks missed during BCHL season, 11 games missed this season) and the pandemic shortening his 2020-21 season to 16 games. If he needs an extra NCAA year, so be it.

You look at every move made in hockey through the narrow scope of your own beliefs rather than looking at all of the variables and coming to an objective opinion. Calgary doesn't view Toffoli as a rental. They viewed it as a hockey trade. Sutter is very fond of Toffoli as a player. A trade that the Habs were happy with became available. That is quite a different situation than the Flyers are faced with. It also doesn't consider the draft lottery. Finishing last doesn't guarantee you the first pick. You mistakenly think that the move was about tanking. The deadline trade market has not developed yet. There is no non-trade of Giroux. It is upcoming. |
