A team needs to be solid in front of the goaltender and committed to playing team defense. I agree that you should not be counting on your goalie to win games, but bad goaltending can definitely sink a team.

You need a good goalie… problem with the leafs is that they seem to lose if the goalie doesn’t stand on his head… and imo that’s a bit too far when it comes to reliance

It’s been a tough stretch the last few games. Goalies haven’t bailed out the team for their mistakes. Goalies are still goalies and you hope them make a few of those saves.

Better to get the sucking out now then in 2 months though.

Tbh I think the problem is the opposition is now in mid season form so the chances the leafs give up expose their goalies terribly.

It’s the team play defensively more than the goaltending when it comes to the true issue imo

31st in the NHL in 5v5 save% since December 1st. Need them both to be better.

Meh, at some point things were going to be a grind. Tampa had a bad streak also.

Unfortunately, I have a hard time being confident in this goaltending or defense. I picture what playoff hockey looks like, and I just can't see this team playing that style.
