He's scored 25 total goals in 164 games since he got traded from Ottawa.
probably not gonna happen. - BINGO!
If the Sharks were playing the Leafs tonight, it would be practically a sure thing. |

A concussion is a concussion.
there is zero ways of figuring out a timeline.
When your symptoms disappear you haven’t fully recovered and are much more susceptible to re injure, concussions are tricky and there would be full reason to shut him down, especially given the circumstances.
Again a lot of this will be on Muzzin obviously, it’s his asset to protect(his brain) - Santo_44
Oh I’m not passing judgement and believe me as an epileptic I more than realize a doctor’s caution when it comes to the head.
It was just an honest question… can a team put a player on the LTIR even if the doctor says he’s good to go? A safety concern in Muzzin’s case for instance? |

I knew to one side of his head and then it landed directly onto the ice…. The head took a couple good shots.
My primary concern is why did it take that long to stand up? Was he having trouble seeing straight? That’s what I’m wondering. - Dozzer
I'm glad he didn't bounce right up... I think often the pressure that's on the althletes lead them to get up too soon... just think about Tavares in the playoff game last year
a couple of concussions that close together time wise doesn't bode well for JakeM.
that being said - Dubas cannot afford to be indecisive here.. he must operate from a position of assuming the worst - that Muzzin will not return... he doesn't need to make a huge singular splash... he maybe better off going for two defenders such as Gavrikov and Soucy
and Dubas should NOT be hesitant to move Sandin or Lliljegren if he can get back more quality in return.

Not a direct comparison.. but this I believe was the jist of the Eichel saga.

I've got no problem with getting a tough mean SOB but I'm just saying Ristolainen ain't it.
I'm hoping Lyubushkin is a start. - GreatGigInTheSky
Risto is garbage.

effectively yes... they used to call it Robidas Island... although in Muzzin's case this shouldn't be necessary... err on the side of caution with the head injury |

There’s a very specific and detailed process for getting second opinions but in the final analysis, it’s the team that holds the cards. |

Dubie shouldn't be hesitant to move anyone on the prospect list if it makes you better.

No. You have to assess how much of an improvement against who you’re trading away |

I remember a concussion specialist telling my cousin that you can't fully test concussions from tests, and that most of it is shown in symptoms.
If he has a concussion he won't play, if he doesn't then he would. His diagnoses will be based on how he is feeling, the tests will help. |

My wild guess is "no", as you would need a medical recommendation to put a guy on LTIR.
As most contracts are insured, it would be fraud to say a guy is injured without medical paperwork.

If Muzzin is available for playoffs it is a bonus. |

I highly doubt Muzzin would pretend he has a concussion here I think we can throw that assumption out the window if he is thrown on LTIR |

There was some speculation that Lupul did not want to go there.
But 99.99% of what you read about Robidas Island is bullpoop. There hasn't been a single guy who has gone there and come back and played in the NHL. |

That’s the tricky part for Dubas. Do you get a replacement or use the $ to upgrade somewhere else? Head injuries just do t have a clear timetable and he was kind of poopty to begin with. Whatever they do, Muffin’s cap has to go to a rental |

I don't agree with that.
Would be harder to deal with next season but much easier to fit this season which was one of the main issues...can't retain on a guy with term like a rental to fit him in for this run. |

It's money for nothin and your chicks for free - most the of the players that have been sent there weren't earning their pay so win-win?

With Muzzin down they need two D. They can scrape the $ together to replace Holl. If they’re going to replace Muzzin they have to use his money and there’s no way they can add a significant piece when Muzzin’s money comes back on the books next year.
Also, they don’t have to retain if they have $5.6M in play money. |

This is true. Lupul never played a game afterwards even after he came out saying he didn’t fail his physical. He retracted his statement later but I do believe he was fit to play. |

I just disagree.
I think they could find a way to fit in 4.6M from Chychrun.
I am also not one who thinks Muzzin will 100% be a Leaf next season. |

Jake Muzzin is resting in Toronto now. Leafs will be patient. "It's positive today in terms of how he's responded," says Keefe. |
