common occurrence or not watch the clip its kinda clear, I mean what you think he was doing there, swatting at a fly ? - Xizord
my guess is he was convinced it was an opposing player and barely even looked where he was hitting lol... don't get me wrong, I still think intent shouldn't be considered as a criteria, and it does look really dumb, but why would he slash the ref like that right after a draw? doesn't really make any sense
Surprised you didn't mention Gallagher to Pittsburgh. Both teams have discussed that. Or Jake Allen + Drouin to the Avs. Avs need to upgrade goaltending. Drouin is a move for the future. Finally, any update on Price for RNH? I heard that was nearly complete. So lots of big moved not even mentioned. - HockeyBuzzed
None of this makes sense, might be why it wasn't mentioned

oh so ok we agree he was trying to slash a person ( I though we were not agreeing on that)
Did he think it could be the other center, ya perhaps…
But personally I dont buy it, he was just complaining to the linesman for something that happened on the faceoff...
especially the allen being an upgade part. - Gramps28
Yup.... and nobody is discussing a Price trade, guy isn't playing this year... Pittsburgh already exhausted all their draft and prospect capital and Drouin is not a move for anyone's future

wait. people actually think MacKinnon was trying to swing at something else other than the linesman? He should get 20 games for that. In the 80's tom lysiak trip a linesman and got 20 games.
and he didn't get suspended? what a (frank)ing joke.

I didn’t see the play, so I’m gonna surmise that Nate tried to kill him.
So I say life in prison, no chance of parole for 29 years..

the NHL should hire you gramps, they sure could use a great mind reader to help with handing out disciplinary measures.
you need glasses, pat. the only person anywhere near him was the linesman. - Gramps28
you think it's entirely impossible he thought it was an opposing player..? and besides, what would be the reasoning behind hitting the linesman right after that draw? I can't prove it was completely "accidental", but you can't prove this is what he intended to do either. if he had a suspension history you might have a case, to me that just doesn't really make any sense...
