no one has brought any logical explanation that would justify slashing the ref... the only argument I heard was "oh he knew what he was doing", which isn't really an argument. him thinking it was a player makes more sense, imho.

To me it kinda looks like he was trying to slash the trailing leg of the player who started skating away from him and hit the ref... However, I'd still suspend him. You have to be in control of your stick at all times.
