At least Thanos leaves half, Eternals god wipes everything. Thanos thought process is like pruning a tree, snipping part of it so it can thrive. Arashim(sp?) just says the heck with everything you're gone.

Nice read again Jan! Forsberg would be great but Im still not willing to take on a rental at this time. I just dont see this team going past the 2nd rnd. They need another year for the kids to grow stronger and have a little more bite in their game. If we are shopping, my list includes a player like Copp in Winnipeg or if we really what to step-up to the plate, lets go for Scheifele for Chytil, Nils or Zac, our first this year and 2nd next year. Hes got term and a reasonable cap hit of 6.125M for 3 playoffs. Otherwise lets leave it alone and shop this draft. LGR!!!

I'm sure I could find some entertainment from it but I am just not that into superhero movies. I enjoyed Deadpool and the original X-Men movies but that's about it. Transformers was so (frank)ing lame that it turned me off of the whole genre (if that even makes sense). - JRR1285

Teams can grow very quickly. I'm not saying that we are as talented as they were, but 07-08 Chicago Blackhawks missed the playoffs, the next season they lost to Detroit in the WCF.
Tampa went to the final only a couple seasons after drafting Stamkos and Hedman in back to back years, the previous year they were swept by the Habs.
Point is, if you think we are ready to compete now, you jump at the chance. History shows the kids will preform if they have the ability too. Plus, going on a run only benefits them; you only get experience by actually doing it.

That doesn't cut in the playoff! Theres some bite still missing form this team, they think too often that they can just turn it on! Wrong, Ask Detroit, Columbus, Ottawa was pushing hard and we barely survived. The oldest Dman last week was Trouba! The rest are 23 and younger. Do I need to continue or do you get it? Watch the game tonight, see who shows up first to play. The Caps third line is going to wreak havoc tonight and if we have no answer this will be an ugly game and can show why we need to just stand pat unless the piece you bring is a long term deal, not a blow and go. Just not ready to go for it all yet!

i mean... isn't that exactly why you go out and get rentals when you have all this cap space? You've got a Vezina/Hart candidate in Shesty, a Norris candidate in Fox, Panarin, Mika, Kreider, Trouba, etc. Plug in a top 6w and maybe shake up the 3rd line and i think you go for it. |

Your point is far from unfounded. But, I would counter that this youthful team has found a way to come together and do what is need in about 35 of those 50 games. That's 70% of the time. You only need a winning percentage of 57% to take a series. This isn't your run of the mill inexperienced team.
I have a feeling that these kids will get in tough in the playoffs and learn what it is that's been missing in their game. Basically, I am excited for them to get a taste of how different the playoffs are and learn what it will take. So, while I don't believe they are destined for the Cup this year, I think they will be improved by whatever experience they receive. And, with this much skill throughout the line up, there is an outside chance of them getting hot and going on a real run. |
