Why do you think they aren’t working? Are you the type of person who needs to see trades to believe a management group is effectively working? - bloatedmosquito
They’re working alright. Working for good PR. |

Are you going to convert from somewhat rational Nucker to fake fanboy every second week? Why? |

After the disastrous job the last regime did, this franchise could use some good PR. |

It's nice to see him getting appreciated in Calgary for everything he brings. And while I understand why the Canucks had to move on from Markstrom in order to give Demko an opportunity, I still see Tanev and Toffoli as two players who never should have been allowed to leave — especially for nothing.
Yep. Disasterous summer JB had letting them both walk. Many here were applauding not re-signing Tanev, most pointing to his injury history. How has that worked out? |

As a Flames fan it’s worked out great, thanks.
Realistically he bet on Schmidt instead, go on the Jets blog and see how many are trying to figure out how to rid them of his contract. |

Having Schmidt and Myers both on the same team for 6mil a piece was truly perplexing. |

I supported letting him walk. Actually, I advocated trading him years prior when his value was at its peak.
But apparently his vet defense was needed. Well, it's clear that they didn't need him to lose as they have lost just as much as when he was here.
The point being, the Benning tenure was one mistake after another. Having Tanev here would make them marginally better and some people would still be drinking the Kool Aid. So at the end of the day, if you believe that Tanev's absence makes that much of a difference, it's a good thing he's gone because he further exposed the idiocy of the Benning tenure. |

I’m sorry you miss Benning Makita - CanuckDon
I don't miss Benning, I am pleased with the change in management, I just think that anyone that states that Rutherford is going to gut the team because they don't like a player or because he traded players under different circumstances is a dumbass.
I wasn't looking to label a specific person. If you feel you resemble or identify with that remark, then that's cool also. |

That just means that there are several teams that are worse than this JB built team. |

Thanks Carol! Who will be Calgarys Reichel tonight, getting stuffed on a two pad stack by Demko? I hope it’s Ketchup, Tkachuk, Kachook, however you spell it.

I don't think he would have changed the teams fortunes this season, but having a steady guy like him signed to a reasonable cap hit for 2 more years would certainly give the new management team more flexibility with the blue line.
One look at how the Canucks fared in the playoff bubble shows how important he was to the guys in the locker room, Canucks could still use more guys like that. That said, I agree that if his presence had extended the JB tenure, then it is not the worst thing in the world that he left |

I can't wait until this new super awesome, extremely talented, diversive group of a very good looking management team trade Miller, then Boeser, then Pettersson for some really old retread players to make the team a 250% wining club.
I hear Kapanen is on his way this minute genius. Wonder what other retread is on their way. Probably Marleau, you know he traded for him in 2020 stands to reason he wants him again. Oh oh he is probably trying for Gudbranson also, probably straight up for Miller. This will be so awesome, you guys know he has a track record right? Guys know that he really wants these players because he had them before right.

I don't disagree with you. I'm not surprised by his play but rather his durability. I'm one of those that thought his physical health would decline as he got older.
He plays a tough game in the best defensive sense. He'll wait that half second to make the right play knowing that he's going to get hit. That's an overlooked aspect of toughness.
Having said that, his style of play (as I just mentioned) coupled with his very slight frame always made me hold my breath watching him. It became nerve racking at times thinking... 'you're gonna get hit... move it!!!!... is he okay?!?!... whew!' |

I think it’s fair to say that coaching played a part in the poor results, but it isn’t only the coaching that was (is) the problem. |
