I said so yesterday!

I thought you were joking.... Ovechkin would have done better to keep his mouth shut but its hard to deflect the question when you've been a Putin cheerleader the whole time!

Banning all Russians is ridiculous, how do you know they even agree with Putin and his actions? Ovechkin doesn't speak for all of them! And where does it end? There's a millwright at my work, he's Russian, should he get the boot too?

And I'm not sure the NHLPA would agree

doesn't matter if they agree or not. most probably don't.
and it has nothing to do with what Ovie said. even if he had kept his mouth shot, I would have said the same thing.

So punish people who have nothing to do with it just because they come from a certain country? Do I even need to tell you what that sounds like?

To punish innocent people for someone else's actions is common sense to you?

Yeah we need to prevent innocent people from working because of what their home country is doing. I say why stop there and let's deport them.

Especially Panarin, a vocal critic of the current Russian president.

I told you, this will end from the inside. you think innocent russian people won't suffer from the economical sanctions many countries are taking? of course they will. and when they will have enough of it they will kick his ass out for once.
Putin is a big hockey fan? pretty sure he won't like to see Ovie come short of Gretzky' record because of it. I know, very small influence in the overall picture, but add them all together...

Actually the vast majority of them have spoken out in favour of Putin many times. The only one I know that spoke out against him was Panarin. Most of the others have very publicly backed and even campaigned for Putin.

Sorry fido, on the habs you most often than not have it, but on this one this is just the wrong approach. It's a bit like wanting all russian immigrants to go back to their country because of Putin's action. This sanction would tend more towards xenophobia than towards supporting ukraine.

all russian immigrants don't make millions in the public eye. Putin doesn't give a poop about ordinary people, he does about his friend Ovie though.
it's like this UN security board, can someone explain to me how Russia still has a seat on this, and a veto right on top of it? kick these clowns out of there!! lol

This will not end from the inside, Russians won't overthrow Putin!

This ends, or starts in order to end (ugly) when the Russians step foot on NATO protected nations. Or if the Ukrainians manage to pull off the impossible and fight them off!

Banning and deporting Russian players is not only ridiculous but a slippery slope, like I asked you before, where does it end? We give all Russian born immigrants the boot?

And I think the NHL could get hit with lawsuits if they were to terminate contracts

Show me.... show me clips of Russian players endorsing a Ukraine invasion, not supporting Putin in an interview 3 years ago in fear of having their families back home picked off!

Won’t end from the inside. Putin and his cyber warfare group are controlling everything Russians hear. He lies through his teeth and they believe it. Kind of like Trump and his band of moron supporters.

I’m not saying to end their contracts and send them home. Can’t really do that.
But the vast majority have spoken out in favour of him in the past.
