Also @Vantel, something you said from the game the other night really stuck, and is something I’ve been thinking but haven’t said out loud.
Watching on TV doesn’t give you the whole picture. Your comment was about Boeser being better than you perhaps thought I think. It’s probably the same for guys who we (I) complain about too, like Myers. I think generally speaking, the guys are all better than the whiners think and not as good as the slurpers think. - 1970vintage
As I mentioned the other day, my brother also was at that game and said it is amazing how good these players are nowadays.
He doesn't like a few players, but he has a different perspective now that he has seen them live.
He was impressed with both Myers and OEL and what they do away from the puck, but what surprised me was his assessment of Boeser and how he is much better defensively and more engaged than what we see on TV.
Now this game could be an anomaly, but it might also be closer to the norm, for their effort. |

I will tell you the thing about Myers and why you get varying opinions. My son turned to me at the game and said what a great play by Myers and 3 second later said oh well that was sort of horrible.
Everything he does really well he follows up with a brain fart. Thus the name Chaos Giraffe.

Agreed. Finally feels like they are trending up again. Moving Miller would really deflate that. Still have next year (even if they get a bit less) - canucksfan1944
At this point I understand their reasoning if they keep him, and I understand their reasoning if they trade him. |

I’m no professional hockey guy, but that typically means he’s being asked to do too much. It’s like what’s his name with the bras on the ice. For three games he was a first liner. (Cowen?) |

I don't think he will ever live up to his contract but he is serviceable .
The thing I seen as Canucks biggest need was toughness. If Calgary wanted to physically beat down Canucks , they had no one that could answer . There was a few moments Flames looked like they would go head hunting. I can't stress how much need they have to get someone here . I am even entertaining a trade of Pearson for Kassian .
Their forecheck was effective but hardly intimidating at all.

Flames are not intimidating. Wasting a roster spot is a waste. We just sick Garland on Gaudreau. |

Yeah, there's some really boring guys out there doing PBP. I grew as a kid listening to Hughson's "great save Luongo!" calls which were awesome and Shorty's done a solid job of carrying the torch after him.
I also love how much Garrett triggers Flames and Oilers fans |

Going to be interesting to see the next game between these two teams, I suspect Sutter will have them playing like bastards |

Carol brought up a good point about Vegas and how they are dropping in the standings.
I would like to see them drop out of playoff contention and start becoming doormats, which should happen now that they have perennially loser Eichel in the lineup. |

They lost to the Yotes so they're definitely struggling lol. Pacioretty hurt yet again. They Kucherov'd their best forward. Defensively they're vulnerable whenever I watch them, definitely an offensively oriented team.
Happy to see my boy Laurent Brossoit get a shot there with Lehner banged up, good BC boi |

Broissoit is one of the more consistent backup goalies in the league. Not sure why he doesn't get talked about more.

I went to a few games in 1970, it was exciting just to have an nhl team, I seen the hawks, bruins, Canadians that year, we got smoked but just being there was exciting. |

If Miller wants to stay keep him. If we had to trade one of the core I would think boeser would be the right move but if the team is managed properly find a way to keep him. There are some bottom 6 and dmen to clear out before messing with the core. |

They can afford everyone including Boeser , the question is do they want to spend that type of money. If you can get him for under 6 then you think about it. IMO

Thanks Carol.
I agree the refs favoured the Canucks in that last game, it wasn’t even close. Oh well maybe next time it will go the other way.
Another good read! - K-man25
Thanks Carol, good point about the refs, seems that they decided to punish the Flames for being the whiny, sniveling disrespectful crybabies. They got what they deserved, Canucks maybe, just maybe could have had two called. |
