Steak knives? Participation ribbons?
Gillis drained the cupboards and left the team in a crippled state. Folks can brag all they want about good regular season and regular season wins in the weakest division in hockey and he did d1ck all to build the future. He lived off Burke and Nonis selections .
Yippee we made it to the finals one year and got our asses kicked. Embarrassment . Do I need to pull out the Marchand speedbagging Daniel gif again? - VANTEL

You can pick them up at end of day when my shift ends, when you pay. was on way to airport they knew that wouldn't work.....typical 100$ US in the insurance papers....know of many with similar issues. Been all over Mexico, half dozen trips all different locations. - SMP8719
Crazy. Iâve heard of people being pulled over for unsecured dog in the back seat but donât know of anyone that it has happened to. |

Because the prospect pool is so great now?
The team is getting so many participation ribbons now?

Gotta love the Gillis/Benning era discussions about 2 of the worst GMs in Canucks history. |

I was a huge Shinkaruk fan, I used to treat McKenizie's list as the Bible, i didn't watch a single game of any prospects outside of WJHC - Nucker101
NICK (frank)EN MERKLEY!! repeated like 6 times was pretty good too.
I like Bob's list because it is scouts but scouts do get it wrong sometimes. I try to take consensus of a lot of lists because each person has their own little thing. I feel like even Cam Robinson and Will Scouch have got much better over the past few years, even with their bias of every player under 5'10" deserves to be drafted in the top 100 every year |

This is a dead horse butâŠ
From 1999-2000 through 2013-14, the Canucks were the 4th best regular-season team in the NHL.
In the following eight seasons under Benning, they were 26th. - bloatedmosquito

Drafting players that move past the prospect pool and become NHLer's quickly is a bad thing because you want the prospect pool to look good?
You are getting that ribbon alright. |

From what I hear, you donât win with guys like Pettersson, Boeser, Höglander. So in a decade, theyâve got Hughes and Demko, no prospects, no cap space, no on ice success. |

There are 7 players the Canucks have drafted themselves on the roster, while having no grade A prospects in a very shallow prospect pool. After having a "draft guru" GM. After being one of the worst teams in the league for years.
Tampa has 13 drafted players on their roster.

How many of the Canucks drafted players are, or have been in the lineup because the team is desperate for talent |

I wouldn't take hockey buzz at the bible. I've been kind of going back through blogs for like a year now to find some consensus picks for what "we" wanted as a group.
Team would look something like this for 1st round picks up to 2018. (as far as I've got)
Ehlers Rasmussen Tkachuk
Merkley Zadina

My statement was Petey Hughes and Bo you won't win with . Some fools think taking away the real top talent on the team will help the Canucks . You have to add talent not deplete it

I wasnât picking on you. Iâm saying the general feeling is that the guys who were drafted high, are the teams best players, are not âplayers you win withâ, so theyâre basically right back to where they started. Thatâs pretty pathetic. |

Moving Miller or Garland will not improve this team. Moving Poolman Hamonic Dikie Pearson might.

You can't add unless you get assets, getting rid of lesser players isn't going to get you those adds you need. Sometimes you need to subtract to be able to add, especially if the pieces don't fit or aren't the sort of players you win with. Building around Short Stack, Red Rover and Bo Derek isn't going to change that even with Miller here. |

Funny enough, Tampa has a #1 and a #2 drafted. Then its #14 (Cal Foote, who's really depth right now). Then #19. Then a whole lot of second and later round picks.
Canucks have had 5 top 10 picks (3 on the actual roster) in their multiple years of sucking under Benning. You'd think a good drafting GM could have unearthed more than that... but maybe not cause he just traded the picks and players away. |
