Bruce on the idea of trading Miller:

“If we got McDavid in return I’d say it’s okay,” said Boudreau with a laugh when asked about how much losing Miller would affect his team. “We don’t even talk about it, I haven’t talked one iota about J.T. getting traded. He’s the cornerstone right now — one of the cornerstones of our team, so we just go on. To me, that’s all noise. It makes for great media, and I love reading it all when they talk about trade deadline stuff, but nobody’s talked to me about anything.”

Miller won't be getting traded in-season.

My guess is the players that might get moved are
Boeser
Hoglander
Motte
Hamonic or Poolman

We will get a better handle on Zacha during tonight's game, yes I realize it is only 1 game, but at least we can focus on him, as fans tend to focus only on points.
As you know, some fans aren't very reliable as talent assessors.

this group is all over the place, sometimes good sometimes not. Some even post on the wrong thread without even noticing.
That’s what makes Carol’s blogs so SPECIAL!

If Alvin pulls the trigger on that trade then I’d say we are right back into Jim Benning type management.
- bloatedmosquito

Wrong! Benning would wait until Boeser was due his qualifying offer, hence when he has no value

Fair, but 1 game is definitely way too small. Like JD and Poolman have had good games this season but overall have struggled.

And almost every Devils fans’ comment on Zacha all say very similar things. Tweener, soft, not reliable defensively, mediocre hockey sense. He has offensive talent and size/skating but just lacks everywhere else

I can’t see the last two being movable(Hamonic next TDL maybe). Agree with the rest.

Yes. They aren’t movable. Fans need to be patient. Or get high on bath salts until jimmys contracts expire

Boeser for Zacha is fair.
Hog for Severson is not as he only has a year before UFA

- CanuckDon

Boeser >> Zacha in value. Severson is worse than Myers defensively. Do we really want that as a return? May as well get Barrie for peanuts.

Ya I am not advocating for Zacha, but can't say I have paid much attention to him, when watching the Devils.

I think some teams might be interested in Hamonic, he is still a decent enough defensive defenseman that can move up to top 4 when needed.

He has 7 goals 30 points in 50 games. Do our entire D squad have 7 goals? I bet it is close.

Boeser has 30 pts in 48 games.

I think Zacha is worth more 🤷‍♂️. Look at their respective qualifying amounts

I'd prefer none of the above, would rather just trade Boeser for futures + cap space if Zacha is the best roster player you can get

Yeah, but that extra year left will scare some teams away, especially with how injury-prone he is

I don’t like what I’ve been reading about Zacha from Devils fans. Sounds like the type of player that is more of a placeholder and someone you end up wanting to upgrade on.

Bandaid and not a real solution

- Nucker101

A mid 6 type LW imo. C in a crunch. Somewhat underwhelming but the right age if the right price. Could mean a slight shake up as in Boeser gone for better cap managing. Gives Pod & Hog more time to grow. Would want a D added if Boeser goes.

What futures? Who is giving up assets? If you are talking a second round pick then wow. You know how I feel about this groups draft record.

I already think they are there.

I don't think there are any magic ways to fix the roster and GMs eventually turn to what has worked for years. I think they will turn to buyouts and using assets to move players. There are only so many solutions.

Ask yourself if you were GM would you sign Boeser for 7.5 mil

Ask yourself if you were GM would you give up good assets to trade for Boeser?

So what do you do?

- VANTEL

I can see moving out 1-2 contracts or a buyout if necessary.

Everbody can forget talking about 7.5m it’s not happening. Move on.

Yes a few teams would trade for Boeser. Top 6 scoring Rwingers are in demand.

I’d field best offers for Brock while trying to sign him to a friendly 5/6m.

Boeser for Zacha is not fair. You may not be enamoured with Brock but that’s selling cheap given Zacha’s contract situation.

Yeah, I'd take the 2nd + 6M in cap space over Zacha all day. I do think Boeser would get more than just a 2nd, probably another pick or prospect as well

They can use the pick to draft someone or use it to acquire a different player

I don't think some GM's see it like that, which is good for us.

Market inefficiency
