It was an obvious play to sign Boeser on a cheaper 5yr deal. It was not an overpayment & worked out ok. Deferring it put it in Boeser to deserve the 7.5m QO which he didn’t do & WON’T get. It is now overblown but is a minor hurdle than be worked out in one form or another. Fans just get to hung up on it.

The dollar amount is good but 7yrs idk. Gut feeling is he won’t age well. His skating is sub par in todays game being he also needs a very good playmaker. I’m saying not a fan of players who lean on others too much to make them produce. If he closes out the year real well then sure 7/5.5m would be great. His best value is if traded & he gets key pieces to fill holes & depth needs. The way our team is built we don’t have enough playmakers to go around or if we did we’d score more.

Zacha is much bigger & pretty good at puck possession but doesn’t play very physical. Skates well but more of a 3rd wheel imo. Costs more than Hog in the same roll. He’s been bumped as a 3C by Mercer. What is it in him that you see is an upgrade?

Hoglander does not play physical either. One of the biggest factors of why Zacha is 3C is Hughes and Hischier . No way he is going to knock them off . He is an upgrade over Hog at this time and can replace either Dikie or Pearson on wing.
