Thanks Trevor.
How long does Sutter give Ritchie to break out of the 0 for? Markstrom is ahead of him in scoring. I like what he brings in physicality but he either needs to deliver that more or take his spot in the press box. Ditto BR.
Rumour (Ek) Flames looking at Strome from Chicago, myself I’d rather see them go after another punishing forward such as Lawson Crouse in Arizona, 14 goals, 10 assists and 45 min in penalties. 6’-4” 215 lbs. Truly a Sutter type, and someone that may be good in the playoffs.
Kylington had an off game vs Montreal, probably why Sutter started Zadorov in OT. Speaking of which, how can you put Toffoli on the 2nd shift and leave Chucky on the bench. Never doubt Sutter but these moves had me thinking he was gambling and lost.
Should be a good game, doesn’t start til 9 here, so I’ll lay off the tequila til then.

Good blog Trevor, the Flames were looking towards the AV's game and thought Montreal would be a pushover. Flames win tonight in a low scoring game 2-1.

Sutter's moves in OT had me wondering if he wanted to keep them from winning a stinker in spite of themselves and then be complacent for the biggest game of the season.

You can’t just predict the score, we need the goal scorers as well.

Sutter plays to win all games but these moves to me show he was sending a message to certain players. Just as he’s doing to Dube and Ruzicka right now, there’s no way after the loss that The BR’s should be playing ahead on them. Sutter being Sutter.
Watch now Ritchie will break out and score the winner.

Odds to score a goal. Seems like Vegas is unaware of Ritchie’s struggles. I’d put some money on it if he was +2000.

K I’ll be the first to say it.
Monahan for Domi gives us cap relief and no buyout next year.
Dube for Crouse give us cap relief
2nd to Montreal for Chariot

Domi between Crouse and Toffoli gives us a legit line. Chariot gives us depth

This GMing is easy!

Monahan isn't going anywhere unless the Flames are throwing in a bunch. Why would Columbus want Monahan? They'd be getting a player having a worse year, making more money, and they're stuck with him next year. What's the argument for Arizona wanting Dube instead of Crouse?

Maybe they'd make the Domi deal for Dube, but who knows what other teams think of Dube at this point? The Flames should be trying to change Dube into Domi, Kessel, or Copp.

If you watched Sutter's post game, he gave some cryptic answers about it. Backlund was supposed to only be out there to win the draw and come off for Mangiapane. He also said that you can't give up the puck like that on 3v3, it's possession. Asked why Zadorov was on for the OT, and he said because he turned over the puck. Not sure if he meant that Kylington had turned it over once and was being used in his place. It was one of those Sutter pressers where he was mad and very short with the reporters.

Monahans history gives him value, he’s only signed for 1 more year. GM’s looking at Bennett and hoping a change of scenery may work the same. Don’t have to rush Sillinger next year, gives them some flexibility. Domi’s not signing in Columbus next year. Lot’s of reasons to do that trade.
Dube’s not the same type of player as those others, I’ve watched him with the Rockets for years. He’s a good talented player but not doing well with Sutter.

If there was any team out there that thought Monahan had value, don’t you think he’d be gone by now?

Nobody’s taking a chance on a guy who was good 4 years ago for 6.35 million.

Great game

Damn the Ave’s are a talented team. They took over the second. Great to see the Flames did not cave under that pressure.

Go Flames.

Classy move by Johnny to throw his game winning stick to the young Flames fan.
What a game. What a finish. What a playoff series this could be.

There's no way you can argue now that the Flames aren't absolutely one of the best teams in the league.

Ridiculous speed.

But gotta say that 3rd pairing of Calgary would be a nightmare to play against in a 7 game series. For sure they will get exposed and be at fault for Some bad goals. But they will make up for it with the physical punishment they lay out.

For the most part they kept up and that 3rd pairing had some really nice hits. Looch looked especially slow last night ! Monahan too actually.
